BEP CZone – Give Your Boat a Brain.

Every now and again you run across a product that’s designed for OEM use and will probably never be purchased by Joe-Boater, but is so darn useful and will show up in so many places, it’s important for people to know about it. BEP’s new CZone control and monitoring system is a perfect example, and after seeing it pop up on a new Riviera 43 Express, a Cigarette AMG 46, and a MasterCraft 300, it seemed like something you would be interested in. I was convinced, after discovering that Simrad’s new NSE 12 is compatible with the system – check this out:
- The BEP CZone
This is a simple diagram that shows how the control function works. A single cable from the switch panel runs to the connector, which “talks” to the system via NMEA2000. The advantage to you (and to boat builders who install the system during construction) is the elimination of gobs of wires, which add weight and construction time (read: cost) to new boats.
There’s a monitor that goes with the system (so you can see and control things like tank levels, DC loads, timers, dimmers, etc. at the helm) and a motor output interface, which runs the power for output loads to items like trim tabs and lifters. In short, the CZonesystem creates one-stop shopping for control and monitoring – it’s a single brain, for your boat. And if you plan to use the Simrad NSE system, integrating it with CZone will multiply the NSE’s functionality in many ways. You’ll be able to view and control things like an autopilot, lights, power-actuated windows, livewell pumps – whatever
- right from your chartplotter screen! Nifty stuff – you can get a more detailed low-down on the system by checking out their catalog at http://www.bepmarine.com/store/web/page.asp?ID=2
