Whew – MADE IT!!! It looked liked SNOWZILLA 2010 was going to burst my Miami bubble, when late yesterday, I found out that my flight Wednesday morning was already canceled. Some quick work on the phone and on the net produced a flight to St. Louis, then a connection to Miami.

After 2 hours in the car (braving DC’s snow-bound traffic to Regan National) 6 hours in flight, 3 hours sitting in airports, and a half an hour in the airport shuttle, I’m in town and ready to hit the convention center tomorrow for the first round of Innovation Award judging. There’s some exceedingly cool stuff on the slate, including that solar-powered reefer we talked about yesterday, new boats from Rinker, Formula, and Scout, and new electronics from Cobra, Raymarine, Simrad, and others.

Would I go through all this purely for work? Heck no! But like the rest of you hard-core boaters and fishers, I’m chomping at the bit to the latest and greatest 2010 has to offer. For now, I’m hitting the hotel room bunk – but stay tuned, the next few days will be very interesting!
