Chris MacClugage Plays Kia Sock Monkey

PWC racer plays the Kia sock monkey in the latest commercials from the automaker.

Inquiring minds have been asking if there’s any truth to the rumor that Chris MacClugage is indeed the guy inside the Kia sock-monkey suit, at least as the monkey barrel rolls a stand-up PWC across the screen in the car maker’s latest commercials. And the answer is … yes.

Freestyle champ Eric Malone explained to me recently that none other than Larry Rippenkroeger, legendary PWC racer turned Hollywood stuntman, contacted him on behalf of Kia, looking for someone who could not only perform the stunts, but could meet certain height requirements. Malone recommended MacClugage and the result is this monkey gone wild…

Another interesting little tidbit? For those that didn’t know, Rippenkroeger has gone on to become Bruce Willis’ personal stunt double. Some of his latest stunt work can be seen in Iron Man 2.

As to MacClugage, he’s out of the monkey suit and winning races…
