Some new faces edged out the favorites at last weekend’s Racine, Wisconsin round of the IJSBA Pro Watercross Tour.

In Pro Am Runabout Open, early favorite Erminio Iantosca took the Moto 1 win, but after being forced to borrow a boat at the last minute in Moto 2, fell from contention. That left the door open for Moto 1 third-place finisher Trey Frame to grab the Moto 2 win, followed by the final moto and overall victory. An interesting footnote? Frame is still recovering from a broken leg suffered in Syracuse.

“I felt pretty good, even though the leg was a little sore,” Frame noted following the race. “Once the adrenaline kicked in, I just went for it. It’s great to get this first win for my National Guard team.”

In Ski GP, season points leader Rob Flores suffered a series of bad starts, leaving him unable to chase down leader Rick Sherker, who captured his first overall win of the season.

“It felt good to finally get this win, and now I can focus on the next three stops and defending my national title,” said Sherker. Added Flores: “I was pushing as hard as I could, but Rick rode really well and deserves this win.”
