Description/Condition

Puffin was designed as a race boat in 1969. She has eight single berths, efficient galley, two heads, and two companionways. She has only been three owners, was extensively raced in the Atlantic and Caribbean with several transatlantic race and some european races. She was designed to be lifted by a crane from a single point for loading on a ship and has a very well designed internal structure for mast, keel and trim tab. Bilge areas were stripped and re-painted. New stainless steel frames were fitted and added, cockpit and stern rebuilt, internal metal frame to take the load of the bsackstay off the transom. All exterior and interior varnish was stripped and revarnished. Topsides faired and sprayed with Awlgrip. New carbon mast and pole with rod rigging. Puffin is in excellent shape, perhaps in many respects better than new. She is very solid construction and extremely strong, yet only 25,000 lbs. An excellent performer with a breakthrough keel of 1969, possibly the forerunner to the Swan 44s and Seguin 44s. With the new mast 5' higher she can be sailed as a sloop or yawl. The original mast is still available if required.
