"Sea Victor II" steel yacht for sale, robust, large sailboat suitable for ocean passages and liveaboard cruising
History and Construction - Built in the UK and of the well known designer Alan Pape, these type of craft have shown their cruising credentials throughout the world. With a good turn of speed, split rig so that individual sail size is reduced into the four working sails, and with sensible below decks "easy to grab" walkabout when ocean sailing details, this boat has it all.
The current owners have sailed around the UK south-west coast, to Ireland and Spain. A sheltered helm position and easy visibility forward, plus good side decks make going forward or aft from the central cockpit a pleasure, the cabins having traditional raised coachroof styling with windows along their length. A planked bowsprit with pushpit makes foredeck work easy. The aft cabin has a domed hatch for helping lookout when the weather is bad and the auto pilot is steering.
The engine is probably an original set-up, a reconditioned B.M.C. which has given reliable service throughout the present owner's useage. There are plenty of live-aboard features which are detailed above in the specification section, including solar panels, wind generator, a modern cooker, electronic charts and heating. In fact just about every bit of long-distance cruising kit you need is included in the inventory, including the sextant in case the GPS satellites get "turned off".
There is a new fully battened mainsail and most of the standing rigging has been replaced over a period of four years. The boat is in regular use and has fully functioning systems and is ready for taking you sailing. The underwater hull was recently professionally sand blasted and primed before the 2012 season. Also the topsides up to the stripe were prepared and over-painted in 2012 and the area above that was painted in 2011. The plate thicknesses are 4mm for the deck, topsides and hull. The keel is 6mm plating with a thicker plate at the foot of the keel. The hull interior is polyeurethane spray foamed to prevent condensation and to insulate against cold and heat.
Comments - - - "Sea Victor II" is the ideal craft for those of you hankering after a sensible offshore boat with solidity of steel. Well maintained, ready to be offshore cruising and at a very good price. Easily handled by a couple and space below for living aboard. A boat brimming with confidence.
If you worked out the cost of all this equipment as if you were buying it new today to outfit a new boat, then you would easily spend a hundred thousand pounds just buying the gear and sails. When you look at the value you get by purchasing this boat and the fact that you can immediately go cruising in her, then the result is you must come and see her as soon as possible and make an offer.
