Bavaria

The German production sailboat builder, Bavaria Yachts, has been coming on strong in the US in the past two years with new models and an expanding dealer network along the East Coast and in Northern California. Bavaria advertises a factory-direct distribution model so they lay claim to improved cost efficiency and speedier delivery schedules. The Farr-designed models range from 32 to 55 feet and are offered in the Cruiser and Vision series, both of which provide good value. With the recent models, Bavaria stepped up their offering by listening to their owners and dealers and offering more choices in their interior layouts and accommodations. Stern-wide swim platforms, flush hatches, and interiors influenced by the BMW design team are helping these imports, as well as Bavaria's new line of powerboats, gain traction in the US production market.

Broker Comments

Accommodation is ideal for those wanting comfortable cruising. She has the lighter teak wood inside, making her feel light and spacious. Her in-mast furling makes light work for single or short handed sailing. The saloon upholstery is immaculate, having been protected since new. A very smart boat with an owner who clearly has an eye for the detail. Huge amount of cockpit locker stowage. The owner tells us that over the five winters in The Baltic, he wintered "Mistral" in a covered boat shed, as is the norm, and this involved the mast being unstepped each time. He has never used seawater in the toilet system. Only freshwater.
