WATERBORNE is an exceptional custom built cruising sailboat by BENNETT BROTHERS YACHTS, INC in Wilmington North Carolina and designed by Sparkman and Stephens in the early 90's. What makes WATERBORNE exceptional is not just the sailing qualities she shares with other S & S designed boats, but the attention to quality and detail in the custom building process and the meticulous maintenance and improvements her owners have made since taking delivery in 1992
She is designed and built to provide the ultimate in luxury for a center cockpit high performance cruising boat. Her moderate weight composite hull and deck, combined with her powerful rig make for an extremely rigid sailing machine. Her winged keel is mindful of the shoal draft requirements of many sailors' cruising plans. The deck arrangement and sailplan with her Furlboom mainsail and furling sails, makes racing or short-handed cruising equally enjoyable for the racing crew or sailing couple.
The luxurious, bright and airy Cherry interior features V-berth fwd with en-suite head featuring separate shower stall. The master stateroom is aft with center line queen berth, multiple lockers & again boasts en-suite facilities with separate shower stall. Midships is the bright and spacious saloon. The gorgeous Cherry saloon table has two folding leaves that can easily accommodate eight diners. The port & starboard settees are inviting for comfortable entertaining when the days sailing draws to a close. She is tastefully appointed with natural toned upholstery throughout. A proper chart table and well equiped nav station is located to starboard. Prior to being donated to the Mass Maritine Academy, the same technicians who installed her systems, reviewed, improved and upgraded them as necessary! Even the interior finish was addressed......from refinishing the beautiful Teak & Holly sole to replacing the Ultrasuede headliners. Inevitably a boat of this age has seen some superficial staining to veneers - but even this has been replaced. The hull has been Awl-gripped in Stars & Stripes Blue and the bottom Anit-fouled.
