Boston Whaler

Few boat manufacturers can accurately say they’re “legendary,” but Boston Whaler can certainly make the claim. Ever since they sawed one of their 13-footers in half and proved the bow and stern would still float when separated, Boston Whaler has been known for building a line of “un-sinkable” boats. But just sawing one in half wasn’t enough: they’ve also blasted them with machine guns, parked dump trucks on their overturned hulls, and driven them up whitewater rapids. Yes, they keep on floating. What's the secret to becoming a legend? Boston Whaler pours closed-cell foam between an inner and outer layer of fiberglass, until all the voids are filled. When the foam hardens it bonds the fiberglass pieces to each other, creating a one-piece hull structure that’s far tougher than the average pleasure boat. Net result? You can pull the drain plugs, load on weight, cut one in half, whatever you’d like—these boats just won’t quit floating.

Boat Description

The Boston Whaler 120 Impact has all of the advantages of an inflatable tender without the disadvantages. It is stable, non-marring and soft-sided, and will not deflate. The technology behind this is the unique Impact Collar System (ICS) that starts with an outer sleeve of durable polyurethane. This material is five times more abrasion-resistant and two times more puncture-resistant than Hypalon. The sleeve is then filled with closed-cell foam which provides cushion upon impact and additional flotation. Another advantage afforded by the ICS is the additional interior space. Because the Impact collar is D-shaped and not completely round, this tender sports twice the usable deck and seating area than a similarly sized inflatable. Its center console configuration and built-in fuel tank afford maximum room for passengers and gear. The engine is recessed to protect the yacht when the impact is tied off or davited. The hull is stepped to optimize performance when on plane, achieving more speed and better fuel economy, and providing superior stability at idle. The hull features durable Unibond construction with a transferable ten-year limited warranty. Equipped with ski eyes, this boat can be used as a tow boat. The optional swim ladder makes snorkeling and diving a breeze.
