To ensure that production keeps up with demand, Davis has just completed construction of new fiberglass molds and tooling for the 52 Express. Unlike most larger Carolina-style sportfishing yachts, Davis method of construction utilizes fiberglass and composite materials only, no wood. All Davis boats feature a mirror-like Gelcoat finish. True to the Davis tradition, the new 52 Express relies upon an exaggerated bow flare and knife-sharp entry to deliver a ride that is extremely soft and dry. The Davis engineering team has made several unique improvements to the express model including a hydraulic lift system for the helm electronics box, under seat bridge storage, and engine room access, through the cockpit engine room ventilation, and a Gelcoat exterior finish. Visibility from the teak helm pod and the surrounding command bridge is outstanding at any speed. The air conditioned bridge deck offers two L-shaped seating areas with a hydraulic lift system to access the expansive storage available beneath. The helm area also features an integral fiberglass cabinet with a refrigerator and ice maker as well as a teak folding leaf table. The tournament cockpit features a walk-through tuna door, transom fish box, high volume scuppers, custom corner hawse pipes, a large console freezer with a second console baitwell, a huge underdeck fish box, recessed electrical services and washdown systems, built in tackle storage with drawers, and engine room access on centerline. Unlike most builders of semi-custom sportfishing yachts, Davis does not require milestone or progress payments to fund construction. Davis truly offers the best of all worlds… a legendary Carolina hull design, fiberglass with composite construction, and the ability to customize each vessel to meet the most demanding specification.
