Cape Dory

Cape Dory

Cape Dory Yachts was a Massachusetts-based boat builder that operated from 1963 to 1996, and during that time, it produced several thousand models sized from 10 to 45 feet. Carl Alberg, the Swedish yacht designer known for his influence in early fiberglass boats, did many of the Cape Dory models, including the sailboats that often employed traditional lines, narrow beams and a full keel design for better handling in heavy winds. In later years, Cape Dory branched out from sailboats to produce powerboats and trawlers for the recreational market. Those classic designs are still in demand today. These simple and straightforward cruisers are prized for being well built in the Downeast workboat style, and for offering a safe, reliable and fuel-efficient ride at a leisurely pace.

Accommodations

The Cape Dory 30 was designed by Carl Alberg to meet the needs of the serious cruiser. There is ample locker and storage space throughout. Her galley was designed to include more storage areas and more efficient use of space. A two burner stove is standard as is the large top-loading ice box. The warmth of wood is built into every one of the Cape Dory yachts. The 30 is no exception; from top to bottom, you'll see plenty of evidence of Cape Dory craftsmanship.
She has a huge forward head with drawers, lockers, and a shower with a teak shower grate and a shower sump. There is a Navigation Station across from the Galley with electronics and gear storage cabinet.
