Sailors have been enjoying practical and affordable sailboats from Catalina Yachts since 1970, when Frank Butler founded the company in Southern California. Their philosophy is to “design boats that stand up to real world conditions, sail well, are comfortable above and below, are easy to maintain and hold their value”. As the company exceeds four decades in the business, it’s clear they’ve been delivering on that promise through all the ups and downs in the industry. Chief designer Gerry Douglas struck a chord recently with the 5 Series, which is a completely new design concept that includes four models from 31 to 44 feet. These boats are durable and fast sailors, are well organized, feature the large signature Catalina cockpit, and offer features that emphasize safety like lifelines that are for more than just decoration.

Boat Description

More sculpted curves have contributed to a boat that is more comfotable in the cockpit, safer on deck and more pleasing to the eye. The cockpit seats are 6 ft. 10 inches long and very comfortable. Below is a well lighted and ventilated compartment, perfect for overnight accommodations for a couple or family with children. Shoal draft and good performance in light and heavy winds dictated the 18 hull shape. The Catalina 18mkII is well balanced and light on the helm, inspiring confidence in the learning sailor and delighting the seasoned skipper.
