Description/Condition

Offers with Acceptances before May 3, 2013 - Brian will personally deliver the boat anywhere in the North Atlantic for the cost of return flights.

In his venerable book “The Best Boats to Build or Buy” (by Ferenc Mat‌é), Cape George Yachts is referred to as 'The Master Builders’.  Mat‌é places these builders over and above the designs and builds from Westsail, Pacific Seacraft, Frers, Cherubini, Santa Cruz and others and there is no doubt in my mind either William Atkin remains one of the finest yacht designers to ever produce yachts for the cruising man. My own boat comes from his board.  Cecil Lange built yachts from  Atkin & Co. are among the very best you can choose to sail on, cruise on, voyage onboard, cross oceans, explore the Caribbean, and above all show off!   Probably the most significant advantage the boat offers over most others is that rather than being some ‘profit oriented production boat’ that is built by 'Any-Old-Joe' hired off the street working in a factory using the cheapest materials they can find - this boat was built by Cecil Lange who put in all his passion, energy and skill building each boat with the achieved goal of producing the finest one in existence. This is a Good Boat. Heck, its the Best Boat to Buy, according to Ferenc Mate... and I agree.

'Shea-Lena' is a custom Lange enlarged model, based on the Atkin designed 40’ Cape George. By Drawing the lines out into a stunning counter stern, her speed, seakeeping, deck and interior space were increased to the highest level possible with this seaworthy hull form.   This boat features 'Atkinized' hull sections which produce an unusually well-balanced underwater and abovewater form. The hull is designed to bring the athwartship sections in very exact continuity, and this feature undoubtedly accounts for the exceptional speed and ability of these hulls; for, despite a very generous displacement and a modest spread of sail, she is a remarkably fast yacht.  The most remarkable aspect of this hull form is that she will continue to ghost along in extremely light going, but when the breeze freshens – she really comes into her own!
