Description/Condition

This Sparkman & Stephens Condor 37 is a well equipped displacement cruising yacht, with outstanding performance. The Sparkman & Stephens Condor 37 is a yacht in which you can make fast comfortable passages. The Condor 37 has wheeled steering with a skeg type rudder. She is a comfortable, dry, a fast passage maker, equally suited to local cruising and club racing or offshore cruising. This particular Condor 37 has been well maintained and well worth an early viewing. This Condor 37 is ready for the current season having been antifouled in May 2012. Accommodation

This Sparkman & Stephens Condor 37 has 6 berths in 1 cabin with 6ft 2’ of headroom.

Entering the main saloon via the cockpit steps, the galley area is to port and incorporates a sink supplied with hot and cold water. Hot water is heated by a calorifer, with a freshwater capacity of 70gallons. A Neptune gas cooker with oven and grill, 12v fridge, lots of storage space, crockery and cutlery are included.

To the starboard is a large navigation station with an array of instruments. To the side and slightly aft of the cockpit steps, are the port and starboard two single quarter berths (4 in total). Entering the main saloon there are two settees/single berths with the upholstery finished in light blue velour and a large folding saloon table. Leecloths fitted to all berths. The forward cabin incorporates storage lockers and a wet locker. The marine toilet is also located in this area. The interior provides a comfortable living space, fully carpeted with curtains, which with the mahogany wood gives a cosy feel which is enhanced by the Eberspacher D4 diesel cabin heating.

Large secure feeling cockpit with teak seats and wheel steering. Good storage lockers and cockpit shower. 



Spars & Sails

The Sparkman & Stephens Condor 37 is rigged as a masthead sloop, with keel stepped mast, with stainless steel standing rigging (replaced 2003) and Terylene running rigging which has continually been updated. S+S Spars aluminium mast (1997) with adjustable backstay, Selden boom (2001). Slabbed mainsail reefing, with a Profurl furling headsail, plus a removable inner forestay. The mast gator was last changed in 2011. Two spinnaker poles.

Mechanical Systems

This Sparkman & Stephens Condor 37 is powered by a 1997 Ford XLD 418 50HP diesel engine, located under the companionway, with indirect cooling, shaft drive to a 3 blade feathering Maxprop, single lever morse controls. Engine has 2600 hours and was last serviced in 201 when a new stern tube and cutlass bearing were fitted along with a new flexible coupling. Fuel capacity 50 gallons. Range of engine spares included. Cruising speed 6kts maximum speed 8kts



Electrical Systems

2 x 135ah batteries for domestic supply (2007), 1 x 120ah battery for engine power (2007) chagrining from the engine alternator, also a 240v battery charger with inverter. There is a  Nasa battery monitor and the boat is fitted with a  Galvanic Isolator.

Construction

Since the establishment of Sparkman & Stephens, the firm has successfully completed over 2700 designs for pleasure, commercial, and military use. These designs have won countless races and international acclaim around the world. This Sparkman & Stephens Condor 37 hull was constructed in 1979, but was not commissioned until 1982. It has a GRP hull, deck and superstructure, moulded non-slip surfaces with a Lead Fin Keel. The hull was epoxied as a preventative measure using the West System in 1997.  Owed by the current owner since 1995. Copy of the 2003 Insurance survey available upon request.
