Description/Condition

The Ada Marie IV is the best example of a CT 54 you can find.  The original owner spent nine months on site at the Ta Chiao Bros. shipyard in Taiwan during the construction and became close friends with the builders.  This had a huge impact on the materials used and the quality and beauty of the interior.  The owner selected the best component parts from around the world and very little equipment used was actually manufactured or produced in Taiwan.

She has been meticulously maintened by her present owner for the past 24 years and the interior looks like new.  Her owner wants to make sure that she goes to a good home and to someone who appreciates and will maintain the condition she is in.  If you are looking for a unique boat that will turn heads the "Ada Marie IV' might just be the boat for you.  New bottom paint April 2013

Accommodations

As you enter down the companionway or elegant banistered stairway one is struck by the beautiful burmese teak interior that is bright and spacious as a result of the raised salon.  The interior wood work is in excellent condition throughout the boat and the builders carved a custom rendition of Mount Rainier that is included in the woodwork between the galley and salon area.  The salon features a L-shaped settee to port and an L-shaped settee to starboard with a beautiful inlaid cocktail table/chess board. The navstation is located aft of the settee on the port side and has a swing out seat. There is a counter between the nav area and the galley that doubles as a bar.

There is a V-berth forward with single berth (crew) drawers and storage.  Next aft to port is a guest cabin that features bunk beds.  The lower bunk bed pulls out and can be used as a large single or small double.  Opposite to port is a second guest cabin that has a good size double berth with storage lockers and drawers below.  There is a guest head and separate shower available to the forward three cabins.  Both the port and starboard guest cabins have doors for and aft.

The galley is aft of the stairway and opposite to starboard is a separate dining area that features an L-shaped settee and dining table.  The dining area is separated from the galley by the refrigeration/freezer.

The palacial master stateroom is aft with a king size berth, excellent light and ventilation and stern pirate port holes to gaze out of as you lie in bed.  There is an abundance of storage in the master stateroom and all locker doors are louvered for ventilation. A large private head with separate stall showerd is located on the port side of the master stateroom.  All the cabinetry and paneling is solid "honey colored" teak.

  • Clock and barometer mounted on bulkhead
  • DC table lamps for ambiance
  • Teak and holly floor (excellent condition)

Galley

The U-shaped galley is located to port aft of the salon and nav area.  There is lots of storage lockers, drawers and good counter space.  The refrigerator and freezer are top loading and separate the galley from the dining area.  There is a side door to the refrigerator that has been sealed but can easily be converted back to opening.  The top of the refer/freezer doubles as a huge counter space and buffet staging area for the dining area.

Hull and Deck

The hull was one of Bob Perry's first designs and was inspired by Bill Garden with input by Ted Brewer. It is an old fashioned clipper style ketch with a 8' bowsprit and trailboards that give the classic look. The hull is solid fiberglass hand lay up.  This later model CT54's deck is 4" thick cored with plywood and consists of a 2 1/2 core layer between top and bottom 3/4" fiberglass layers.  The full keel has encapsulated ballast, masts are keel stepped.  There are mast pulpits at the main mast.  Teak decks are in good condition.  New bottom paint April 2013.
