| FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY! SELLER IS MOTIVATED TO SELL AND HAS REDUCED THE PRICE BY $600,000! LONG RANGER was designed for LONG RANGING under power or sail. She was also designed to carry large groups, long distances, for the purpose of inter-action in coastal and shallow areas. She is, perhaps, the most shallow-drafted yacht of her size in the world with the capacity to circumnavigate with a large number of people onboard. Long Ranger is by design very easy to maintain and economical to operate. She is totally vacuum-bagged fiberglass composite construction. Built on purpose-drawn hull lines from Derek Kelsall, she was fabricated utilizing the finest materials and the largest commercial vacuum table in New Zealand. Long Ranger was first conceived in 1993 as an educational research platform to bring university students from around the world out to the atomic test facility in the southern Tuamotus of French Polynesia. Once she was nearly completed, however (except interior furnishings), the project was postponed. The owner stayed onboard but run out of funds for her completion. For a period of time he operated her in charter in Tonga, but eventually decided to sail her across the Pacific to Costa Rica, by way of Japan, Kuril and the Elutian Islands. Upon arrival in Costa Rica the boat was sold to a Russian owner in order to refit her as a VIP yacht. As such, she was immediately sailed back across the Pacific to Thailand where she spent over two years undergoing a total top to bottom refit. The hulls remained, because they were in perfect condition, as well as the mast and rig, together with her new sails. Other than that, each and every part of the yacht was totally redone. All interior compartments were redone, new mechanical and electrical systems installed, all systems and navigation equipment were replaced. The volume of her fuel tanks were increased nearly 3 times. In short, the Long Ranger is truly a new boat sitting on well proven seagoing and performance hulls. Her Refit was performed considering the requirements of Classification Societies and Luxury Yacht Codes for ocean class operations. I sold this yacht to her current owners and watched them as they hired architects and fabricators to turn her into something truly unique and special - she is like no other yacht I have seen, with capabilities that are unique to her design. Can you imagine sailing a boat of this size up a large river, deep into the interior of the Amazon? She can do it. She can go places that few yachts of her size would dare to tread. She is truly a Long Ranger, both in spirit and design. Currently lying in Singapore, Long Ranger can be inspected at any time with advance notice. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding this amazing trimaran. |
