THE ALL WEATHER 25 Fact Sheet

The hull of the All Weather 25 is based on a re-design of our popular Offshore 25, and is also cutter rigged.   Designed traditionally for blue-water and coastal cruising, she has a dry clipper bow with trailboards, and an elegant sheer line that ends in a nicely proportioned taffrail and wineglass stern.

Heavily built with an infusion / cored hull, she has a cutaway keel with encased all-lead ballast.  For safety, she has deep recessed decks and a blue-water cockpit with integrated bridge deck.  Steering systems are substantial: an outboard rudder with tiller steering and wheel steering inside.

We wanted to get away from the spray hood and the inherent poor visibility and maintenance issues they present, so we replaced it with a cozy pilot house that includes lots of visibility with great sightlines, a steering station, a galley and two quarter berths. We gained, at least for the Northeast and Northwest, the advantage of significantly extending the sailing season in comfort.

An interior of varnished white cedar, white oak and mahogany trim and a ceiling of off-white bead board reinforce the look and feel of an inviting, elegant, finely finished classic all wooden boat.   Pilothouse headroom is 6’3” and 5’6” forward.

The exterior features teak accents and stainless-steel fittings.

The hull suggests a cruising speed of 5.5 knots, but for some reason we seem to think she does better than that! She has a 30’ LOA, a 25’ LOD, a 21’ LWL, and an 8’6” beam. She has a 3’8” draft, an 8,000 lb. displacement with a 44% (3,500 pounds of lead) ballast, and a sail area of 425 +/-  ft.

Some of the features that set her apart:

  1. A well designed & integrated Pilot House that is pleasing to the eye.
  2. An all-wood finely finished interior.
  3. Espar diesel heater – For those cool days of cruising.
  4. NorCold Refrigeration – no more running out of ice.
  5. Propane stove in the galley
  6. Pressurized hot and cold water in galley & head.
  7. Multi-use head with wand shower.
  8. Two quarter berths in the pilot house and a V berth forward, accommodating a total of four
  9. Full instrumentation in the interior steering station
  10. Transportable by trailer (with the 8’6” beam)

Summary

We know of no other 25-ft pocket cruiser that offers the style and performance of our Maine designed and built All Weather 25.  Elliot Spaulding, NA has done a masterful job in designing an attractive, highly-sailable boat, while Brion Rieff Boat Builders Inc. has done a superb job bringing Eliot’s design to life.

Back in the day, a seasoned sailor abided by three fundamental rules.   A vessel had to be able, she had to be seaworthy, and she had to be handsome. We believe the All Weather 25 passes all three criteria with flying colors.

Life is too short to own an ugly boat; come ‘kick the tires to fully appreciate this classy vessel.
