*** Huge Price Reduction!!! *** If you are looking for the classic lines of yesteryear, now is the time to grab this beauty!! This was Ford´s personal boat, built in 1961 at Southwest Harbor, Maine in what was to become the Hinckley Yard. She was sailed to Chicago, sold, and then trucked to Newport Beach, California where she earned a reputation as a race boat in the 60´s. As for her cruising capabilities? In 1967/68 she circumnavigated the Pacific to Japan and back. The current owners purchased her in 1988 and took her on multiple voyages throughout the Pacific - Palmyra; Marshall, Soloman and Tuamotu Islands; Fiji, Tahiti; Galapagos. This boat has ´´been there and done that as far as blue water cruising is concerned. If you dream of calm, clear lagoons, palm trees and the feel and smell of the tradewinds in your hair, then this boat can help you accomplish them! |

This one-of-a-kind F. S. Ford Jr. custom cold-molded is a wood boat lovers dream come true! Safe, comfortable cruiser. Lovely, classic lines. Balances well, heaves-to comfortably, easy single hander. Large, well-drained aft cockpit with sailing bimini makes passage making comfortable and entertaining uncrowded. Sturdy, 33" high, welded stainless steel 7/8" tubing of 3 rails as well as bow pulpit and stern pulpit of the same helps parents and grandparents to relax while enjoying sea life. Systems are simple. They have been maintained for 23 years by a relatively unskilled sailor. More time has been spent cruising and less time has been spent waiting for parts and repairs. The hull is cold molded 3 layers of 1/8" red cedar using the Goudgeon method over the original hull of 1" mahogany over white oak frames and timbers. When cold moulded the frames were replaced new (1988/89). The full keel with cut away forefoot helps working to windward be more efficient and the adequate ballast helps to keep her on her feet and more comfortable. The keel also provides more protection for the propeller and rudder from objects in the seaway. The anchor system is more than adequate for strong blows and the windlass keeps muscles from straining while retrieving. Tankage for fuel and water is long lasting Monel. The holding tank and the marine toilet function well with no odors or spillage. She has voyaged the south pacific for 5 years and has visited islands as distant as the Solomon Islands, Marshalls and Tuamotus; completed a Pacific circumnavigation to Japan and back; all in all she has over 40,000 miles of ocean on her own bottom with the owners who are maturing and wish to spend land time with their families. She would be proud to share your sailing dreams. |

The Perkins engine was totally rebuilt in 2012 - bearings, valves, pistons etc. She has approx 55 hours since the rebuild and runs very strongly. The exhaust system is also new. Again in 2012 - new cutlass bearing; Cutlass stern tube; rudder packing. In 2012 the mast was pulled, serviced, rewired and painted. New lights were mounted. New uppers, front and back, were installed. The remainder of the rigging was checked and found in good shape. The cabin sole was replaced approx 5 years ago.
