In the days when Zane Gray frequented the Catalina Island Tuna Club, Hel-Port was often tied to a mooring just outside--and it's original owner Mr. W.P Durkee (Vice President Shell Oil Company) would come in to enjoy a whiskey and a cigar after a day of Fishing.  If you are looking for historical pedigree, it doesn't get any better than this.

After 23 years of proud ownership, health issues dictate it is time to relinquish the reins of this beautiful Nicholas Potter-desgined sport fisher to someone who will continue to love and care for this historic vessel.  This beautiful boat comes with full records, including the original contract with Fellows and Stewart to build the vessel.

The hull is Douglas fir over oak and the house is mahogany. Twin Kermath, Hercules Sea Flyers (original engines) supply the power, two 100 gal. copper fuel tanks store the gasoline. The vessel has been meticulously maintained:  recent replacement of the planks below the water line with bronze fasteners, new keel bolts, completely new transom and new hatches.  The 12-volt system has been completely rewired.

It's all there. You will never find a vessel like this outside a maritime museum. And, it's ready to take the family up the coast or out to the Islands.

The boat was built as a sports fisher, and has a large aft deck and a place for a live bait well (removed).  The entry to the pilot house/upper salon is direct from the aft deck or cockpit. The settees on both sides double as berths, with the helm on the port side.  The steering is direct chain drive and the mechanism is accessed directly below the helm.

Step down to the main salon/galley with port and starboard settees. There is a sink and stove to starboard and a double door refrigerator converted to 12 v system to port. Foreword again is the head, in the proper place at the head of the boat, and quite large for a boat of this era.

There boat would mke a great weekender at Catalina island, as well as a classy runabout and day-tripper.
