Description/Condition

AVAILABLE FOR SALE OR LONG-TERM CHARTER.

“THE SHADOW “ is a piece of San Francisco sailing history & a joy to sail & to own. Her San Francisco sailing pedigree is impeccable as she was designed by famous San Francisco Bay Area Naval Architect, GARY MULL, & built by the similarly famous & respected EASOM BOAT WORKS of Sausalito in 1974 utilizing the outstanding epoxy saturation cold-molding technique. This technique, while labor-intensive & costly, produces an exceptionally strong, resilient, long-lasting vessel whilst keeping weight down & thereby enhancing speed while also requiring minimum maintenance. Cold-molding is considered by many experts to be the very best construction technique for vessels in this size range. THE SHADOW has undergone a complete & historical one-and-a-half-year restoration at the KKMI Yard; this project utilized the research & design advice of distinguished Yacht Designer, Doug Frolich, and was carried out under the guidance of the highly-regarded KKMI management team of Ken Keefe & Jock MacLean. Master Boatwright Dick Delfino, who worked on her original construction at Sausalito’s Easom Boat Works in 1974, also worked on the 1998 to 2000 KKMI reconstruction effort. Total cost of this exacting reconstruction is reported to have been in excess of $180,000.

THE SHADOW won her division in the 1975 Larry Knight Division of the Lipton Cup & went on to win again in 2000, 2001 & 2002. Consistent with her winning ways, THE SHADOW boasts many other racing victories both on the Bay & in the Ocean.   This offering constitutes an exceptional opportunity to own and to sail one of San Francisco Bay’s most successful and famous performance sailboats and she is in exquisite condition. This exemplary vessel is being offered at a fraction of her rebuilding cost & is ready to go & to continue racing & sailing & winning for many years into the future.

THE SHADOW abounds in features & accouterments, these include but are not limited to: Power & Manual Bilge Pumps, Pressure Water, ground tackle, Aluminum Spars (Double-Spreader Rig), S/S standing rigging, Dacron running rigging, 2 Barient #28 primary sheet winches, 2 Barient #22 halyard winches, 2 Barient #10 halyard/utility winches, 2 Burner CNG Gas Systems Range w/Oven, NORTH Sails 6.5 oz. Spectra Mainsail, Norlam 6.5 oz.  #1 & #2 Jibs, Norlam 4.5 Norlam Spectra 150% Genoa, two Nylon spinnakers, ICOM VHF, Garmin GPS, Autohelm ST60 depth-speed-apparent & true wind, Full Vee-Berth, marine head & holding tank w/pump-out & overboard, Galley Area, Settee, two quarter berths, Dedicated NAVIGATION STATION, Full Double-Course Lifelines w/ Bow & Stern Pulpits, Boom Vang, Traveler, Hydraulic Backstay Adjuster, Lines Led Aft for short-handed sailing, Line Clutches, Galvanic Isolator, Battery Charger, shore power & MORE!
