Description/Condition

Current Price: US$ 324,000 (02/11) THIS IS A NEW BUILD YACHT, AND SOLD BY ORDER ONLY.
The Hans Christian 33 has long been one of the most respected as the leading pocket cruisers built. The design by Harwood Ives is very difficult to imagine until you are aboard one. The use of the cubic inches of living space, to the best of our knowledge, has not been equaled over the years. The first 33 Hans Christians was delivered in July of 1980 by the German operated "Hansa Yacht Und Shifbau" under the direction of Herb Gutler. The many innovation's set forth in the 33 Traditional set the standard for other yachts built in the "golden years of Taiwan." This model has been proven over the years with world passages into heavy oceans and has come through all with valiant glory. Please feel free to call us at any time to further discuss the current build times and delivery options. Delivery can be taken in Newport Beach California, or delivered to the east coast for commissioning. We install all sailing systems, electronics, stoves, upholstery, in the United States. We build the boat in Pattaya Thailand under the guidance of the yard director Jack Hall. Jack has been with Hans Christian and now owns the construction yard where our boats are built.

  • We are also offering the 33 on a kit boat plan. If you are ready, and have the skills to build part of the boat on your own, then we will supply the 33T in any stage of construction that you wish. Starting from a hull, hull and deck, not married, hull and deck with tanks and bulkhead in and the hull to deck completely married, or any stage you wish. We will set you up with sail-makers, and engine suppliers, and be there to help in any way we can. Let us know if you are interested in this type of arrangement, We can not quote you on this until you send of a list of what amount of factory work you want done. Hope to hear from  you.

Construcion
The hull and deck are hand laid up in accordance with approved laminates and procedures. The standard hull and deck color is off white. In the hull a combination of woven roving and chopped strand mat are used with thickness increasing towards the keel. There is a reinforcing core in the topsides which stops at six inches above the waterline. Vinylester resin is used for the initial layers below the waterline. The ballast keel is encapsulated entirely within the hull molding. The deck molding has a core which is replaced with solid FRP in high stress areas where fittings are attached. A two part epoxy barrier coat paint is applied below the boot-top for extra anti-osmosis protection.

Rudder
The rudder is molded GRP with a stainless steel stock, the base of which locates onto the bottom of the keel fairing. The heel fitting is a cast bronze item. The rudder post is machined to accept cable steering fittings as standard.

Cockpit
The cockpit is integral with the deck molding. There is a cockpit locker to port which gains access to the aft peak, and a locker under helmsman’s seat. The gas locker is the forward deck box. Teak inlay to the seats as standard. The cockpit sole is also teak inlay. Two large cockpit drains are fitted.

Recommended RIG
The standard rig for the vessel is a cutter rig with a loose footed staysail to the dimensions as follows:
I 43' 0" (13.106m)
J 20' 0" (6.096m)
P 38' 10" (11.830m)
E 13' 10" (4.210m)
