Maximus American Marine was established in 2005 Owner Bill Demchak was looking for a way to build a mid forty foot custom sportfisherman of Palm Beach quality and construction. The only problem was that most custom sportfish builders have abandoned the construction of smaller vessels focusing on boats over 60 feet in length with a larger profit margins. However, the profit margin was not the driving factor for Bill. His love for fishing and the history of the sportfishing industry is what motivated him to build custom sportfish boats. The 47? Maximus fills the void in the custom sportfish industry that the rest of the builders abandoned. Interested in the whole designing and building process, he set out to look for a high quality builder who shared the same passion as he does. He found builders Tom Schaefer and Chet Darenberg, both very experienced in the marine industry, who were just finishing construction on a 41 ft custom cold-molded dayboat and were looking for their next project. Tom has built a variety of high quality custom sportfish vessels, while Chet worked on many boats, in new construction as well as in the repair industry. They decided to set up shop near Bill?s residence in Hampton Bays, so that he could follow the whole process up close. For the last piece of the puzzle, they hired naval architect Erwin Gerards to further perfect the design and engineering. Erwin worked for Rybovich for many years as their Naval Architect. He worked closely with head builder Gary Hilliard who built over 30 custom Rybovich yachts. Erwin now has his own design office, EG Designs, and still works with Rybovich, now run by Mike Rybovich.

The 47 Maximus is based on very traditional styling. She has a ?classic? day boat design with an open aft bulkhead, but with a modern fast hull. Unlike her predecessors she has no raised engine boxes and can easily be built as an enclosed salon. With her timeless styling, clean lines, proven cold molded construction and attention to fishability she is truly rich in sport fishing heritage

The 47 Maximus is estimated to cruise at 30 knots. With 700 gallons of fuel, the estimated range at this speed is 450 nautical miles. The engine room access is through a large hatch at the aft end of the salon. Equipment includes twin Cummins QSM11 diesel engines, with a 705 BHP output each, an 11 kW Onan generator with sound shield, an Eskimo Ice machine, Headhunter Mach 5 water pump, Cruise-Air air conditioning compressors, 12 gallon water heater, 50 gallon holding tank and a 100 gallon stainless freshwater tank replenished by a Sea Recovery Aqua Mini 350 Water maker.

The interior has high quality finishes, with beautiful teak veneer in the forward cabin. There is a master stateroom forward with a queen size berth. There?s plenty of storage space with rod storage alongside the hull in upper cabinets, two large hanging lockers with endtables and drawers underneath the berth. The guest stateroom is to starboard and has an upper and lower berth with drawers underneath, a large hanging locker and an endtable with drawers. On the port side is a large head with large upper cabinets and mirrored doors. The shower has a curved door on a sliding track, to increase the shower size even more. The salon is designed for serious fishing, with plenty of rod and gear storage under a bunk area to port. There?s a dinette to starboard with seating
