A former giant of the British sailboat building industry, the Moody name has been synonymous with quality yachts for many generations. In the very early 1970s the family run yard engaged Angus Primrose to design a 33ft comfortable cruising yacht, which would be built by Marine projects, builder of Princess motor yachts. The new boat was a resounding success and spawned a growing range of craft with sizes spanning from 27-64ft, that followed the same premise of offering a quality, solid and comfortable cruiser. From the early 1980s onwards, the range was designed by Bill Dixon, with the boats generally becoming larger, more luxurious and faster. However by the 2000s volumes were falling and in 2007 the company was sold to Hanse Group, which commissioned Dixon to design a range of three bang up-to-the-minute deck saloon yachts from 45 to 62 feet, plus more traditionally styled 41ft and 45ft sloops.
