Description/Condition

ICEBEAR is a beautiful example of the much acclaimed Morris 48.  She carries all the cruising amenities expected in a modern cruiser without sacrificing speed or stability.  She has an efficient three cabin, two head layout with a spacious u-shaped dinette area in the raised salon. She has been a fresh water boat since built (sailed on Lake Erie), extremely lightly used and thus is in very nice shape.  This well equipped Morris is a fantastic opportunity to own one of the finest boats on the water.




HULL & DECK
  • Topsides are AWLGrip fininh in "Morris Blue" with double white boot stripe and gold leaf cove stripe.
  • Deck, cabin, and cockpit surfaces are white gelcoat with light tan non-skid.
  • Stainless steel bow rail, lifeline stanchions and stern rail.
  • Stern rail extends forward to lifeline gate openings port and starboard.
  • Double stainless steel wire lifelines port and starboard with opening gates amidships.
  • Stainless steel chocks and cleats for docking lines at bow, stern, and amidships port and starboard.
  • Double stainless steel anchor roller.
  • Simpson-Lawrence dual direction windlass.
  • Additional chain pipe for secondary anchor chain/rode.
  • Inner forestay storage hardware.
  • Opening hatches for forward lazzerette, forward cabin, forward head, main cabin areas, aft heads and both aft sleeping cabins.
  • Four stainless steel dorade vents with stainless steel guards.
  • Stainless steel deck fills for water, waste, and fuel.
  • Varnished teak toe rails and hand rails.


CONSTRUCTION
  • E-Glass over 1" Corecell core, with exception of the transom that is over a 3/4" core.
  • Vinylester resin.
  • Core vacuum bagged to outer skin of the laminate.
  • E-glass/Kevlar hybrid layer included at the inner layer of outer and inner skin against core.
  • Stem, keel sump, rudderpost port, and sail drive port are solid fiberglass reinforced vinylester.
  • Hull stiffened with (4) reinforced, continuous longitudinal stringers; (7) reinforced, transverse bilge stringers; and primary bulkheads are glassed to the hull.
  • Lower longitudinal stringers merge forward of mast step.
  • Reinforced fiberglass mast step, engine beds, and chainplate gussets.
  • Bulkheads, bunk faces, and shelves fiberglassed in place where in contact with hull or deck.
  • Deck permanently bonded to hull shelf with 3M-5200 adhesive sealant and through-bolted on 8" centers.
  • Toe rail bedded and fastened on 8" centers staggered to create a mechanical fastening every 4".
  • Paine/Morris high performance keel (10,700 lbs lead ballast) bolted to keel sump with 14 keelbolts cast in place.
  • Deep balanced spade rudder of carbon fiber/FRP hybrid skin over closed cell foam foil using epoxy resin, vacuum bagged, and post cured.
  • Carbon fiber rudder post.


PROPULSION & FUEL
  • Yanmar 4JH3E, 4 cylinder, fresh water cooled, 56HP, diesel engine (approx. 577 hours)
  • Engine mounted on four flexible rubber mounts bolted to fiberglass engine beds integral to hull.
  • Insulated engine compartment under cockpit with access through removable panels in aft cabins and sail lockers.
  • SD31 Yanmar Sail Drive drive.
  • Three-bladed, 18", self-pitching APS Autoprop.
  • Racor dual system fuel filters.
  • Fuel tank level monitored by Tank Tender gauge system.
