General Description

The hull of "Freedom 7" has been constructed from 10mm thick flat bottom plates, 6mm side plates, 5mm cabin sides and 4mm roof. The steel used was British Standards 43A grade. Protection against impact and abrasion is provided by "D" section rubbing strakes along the sides.

The cabin has two anodised brass aluminium framed top hopper opening windows plus one port hole on each side.

Cabin ventilation is provided by louvred apertures at low level in the cabin doors and 100mm diameter vents in the roof.

Thermal insulation is provided by the use of rockwool behind the lining. The lining is fabricated from 6mm ash veneered ply. The floor is fabricated from 18mm sterling boards.

The craft has a short 1.35 metre fore deck with a gas bottle storage under. The storage locker is designed for the 2 x 13 kilo LPG propane bottles.

A 1.2 metre well deck is situated between the fore deck and the cabin. A stainless steel water tank is under this deck with the filler set into the deck plate. The water supply can be isolated by means of the valve under the front step.

Entry to the cabin is effected by means of two glazed wood doors in the centre of the forward bulkhead.

The cabin is 5.84 metres long and contains a seating area at the forward end. There are bench seats on either side with storage space under. A table can be fitted on desmo legs between the seats. The seats and table can be converted to a double bed across the cabin. This is achieved by lowering the table. The step down into the cabin can be placed under the fore deck.

Further aft there is a Carabo solid fuel stove on the starboard side.

The galley is aft of this area on the port side. The galley contains a "Vanette" 4 burner hob, a separate oven and grill, a Lec 12 volt Fridge and a stainless steel sink unit with associated work tops which have cupboards under. There are inset shelves at the after end.

Opposite on the starboard side there is another bench seat, which will convert to a double berth if required. This seat also has storage space under.

A full height wardrobe is on the port side and opposite there is a cupboard with a Radio/CD Player as well as another cupboard under a shelf.

The toilet compartment is on the port side and it contains a shower, a Thetford cassette toilet an a wash hand basin. Opposite there is a cupboard containing the electrical equipment.

Access to the rear deck is by means of internal steps and a wood lined steel door in the centre of the aft bulkhead.

The new Beta Marine 3 cylinder is fitted below the rear deck. This deck is 2.12 metres long and it has a taffrail fitted round the stern.
