The Hull The Swan 53 has a voluminous hull that allows for comfortable living space on board. The Swan 53's graceful hull is constructed with single skin laminate with a vinylester skin coat. The Rig In keeping with the easy handling concept of the Swan 53, the sturdy aluminium rig has twin swept back spreaders and all lines are led directly to the large cockpit. The non overlapping jib makes the yacht very suitable for short-handed sailing as does the single-line reefing system. The Swan 53 is equipped to fly a gennaker that is launched and retrieved with a suffer, a very safe and convenient way of increasing sail area offwind. The normal jib and large main sail are a powerful combination, allowing the Swan 53 to reach significant speeds with ease.
