The true performance cruiser
The true performance cruiser
Swan 66 is the embodiment of everything that "Swan" stands for. This new model has been conceived using 40 years worth of knowledge in premium yacht building and cutting edge technology, making it the perfect anniversary yacht from Nautor’s Swan. When developing the new Swan 66, thorough investigations were undertaken in order to find the perfect balance between performance and comfort. The Swan 66 is indisputably a true performance cruiser.
In the 1973/74 Whitbread Round the World Race, Swan 65 Sayula II left the rest of the fleet in its wake, winning the gruelling yacht race effortlessly. Like Sayula II, the Swan 66 has been designed with performance cruising in mind. The canoe body carries a large volume, which is necessary to ensure a spacious interior for amenities and equipment, and the hull shape was conceived using the latest racing design technology. Several configurations are available for the Swan 66, to tune the yacht to the owner’s requirements, whether these be cruising with the family or pushing her to limits on the racecourse.
A product of the renowned yacht designer, Germán Frers, the Swan 66 represents the timeless beauty of an ocean going yacht with some distinct features. The interior has exquisite joinery work in teak, which is complimented by a fresh but subtle styling, allowing for a truly modern, spacious, functional and bright interior.
The hull shape is designed as an intelligent balance between speed and space – the optimal hull for a true performance cruiser. Top sides are composite sandwich construction, with carbon fibre reinforcements for a lighter, stiffer hull in addition to better sound and heat isolation. The underwater hull section is coated in a single skin laminate, which provides optimal impact resistance. The structural design of the hull incorporates important collision safety aspects, with the structural bulkheads made from carbon fibre to ensure weight saving.
L-shaped stringers have been utilised to optimise volume under the floorboards, for tanks and other equipment. There is an optional deep keel, offering draft flexibility.
The interior design is fresh and stylish, with white surfaces throughout. The hull windows in the saloon create a spacious and bright living area.
Carbon fibre sandwich construction makes the deck both strong and light. The carbon fibre mast is designed to save weight and provide increased performance. Swept-back spreaders ensure the yacht is easy to sail with the minimum number of crew members. The carbon Park Avenue boom provides easy stowage for the main sail. Chain plates positioned far outboard coupled with a smaller foresail allow for ease of handling.
The Swan 66 is available in two version, FD and S.
