Nordhavn Europe is proud to list our first Nordhavn 43 to come through to brokerage. 43 Hull 36, “Wandering Star”, was our star at the 2009 Dusseldorf boat show. Built to show off our expertise in long distance displacement trawlers, she has a wonderful spec, is in wonderful condition and ready to disappear into the distance right now! Her current owner has kept her at Hamble Point Marina under our watchful eye throughout her short life. She has been professionally maintained and is in her cruising infancy. She is VAT paid and aggressively priced to sell. Her current owner is looking at a larger Nordhavn.

Nordhavn has a fearsome reputation, perhaps save one, attractiveness to the average eye. Once the Nordhavn bug bites they are all ‘beautiful’ but in most mariners eyes the 43 has some of the best lines and looks of our fleet. Her proportions with the added flybridge, GRP stack and crane transform the boat and Wandering Star has these assets.

Let us get a taste for her layout and specification. You enter effortlessly into her cockpit through her low boarding doors. She has had the option of having a port boarding door added. There are ample stowage lockers and the gas locker as well as the cockpit shower. In the cockpit floor lies a large locker lid on gas struts that leads down into the lazarette. There is vast stowage in the ‘laz’ as well as fantastic access to machinery, steering gear, batteries etc.

A large Pacific Sea Craft door which splits like a stable door gives access into the:

‘Wandering Star’ has a standard layout in the salon which is hard to beat. Bench seat to port and a beautiful table and surrounding sofa to strbd. All seats come covered in Ultra leather (colour – Fudge) and this really shows the solid teak floor with its micro groove beautifully. There are Breeze metallic blinds on all the windows and TV and sound systems throughout (spec mentioned later).  Move seamlessly from the salon into:

As with our philosophy the galley is integrated into the heart of the boat, keeping it social and not stuck away in the bilge. This means cooking is anything but a chore, and with the equipment she has, makes it a pleasure. Full size fridge, chest freezer, microwave, trash compactor extra fridge and icemaker are all included. Double sinks and lots of work top space in granite finish this galley off beautifully. The gas cooker comes with oven grill and three burner hob, and has a solenoid activated supply panel with twin gas detectors and alarms. A feature of the 43 is that the exhaust stack runs up alongside the bulkhead instead of standing on its own. This gives a great feeling of added space. From the galley/salon its 4 steps up into the:

The 43’s pilothouse was designed to give the space that the 40 didn’t have. There is room for a proper helm chair (by Pompanette) and space to have extensive electronics and nav gear. There is a list of the electronics further on, Wandering Star lacks for nothing. Full Raymarine suite enhanced by independent PC systems offering AIS (Class B), Forward Looking Sonar and camera monitors make for sophisticated, yet very user friendly, aids to navigation. Underneath the portside chart table lies the combined washer and drier. On the stbd side there is a stairwell leading forward into the accommodation. As you would expect in a Nordhavn, where there can be storage, there is storage and there is a hanging locker as you decent down and into the staterooms. Turn towards the bows and you enter:  

On the port side lies a deceptively large double berth, with much storage underneath the bed. There is a vanity desk to strbd and the port lights and deck hatches make this an excellent guest cabin for friends and family. Forward there is an impressive heads with a spacious shower and upgraded fresh water flush toilets. Granite countertop and the white gel finish give it a spacious and clean feel. Exit the Guest Stateroom and in enter the:

Mid ship MSR’s are a real feature of Nordhavn. Keeping this cabin low and central means maximum comfort and minimum noise whilst at anchor or passagemaking. The 43 stateroom fits this philosophy perfectly. The bed with upgraded custom made mattress is as big as her larger sisters on the Nordhavn 47. There is ample hanging locker either side of the bed and excellent lighting. Cleverly, there is an anchor alarm monitor by the bed so you can sleep deeply without worrying about dragging!

The heads again over terrific space, stowage, mirrors and lighting, a large shower with bi-fold door and seat and again fresh water flush electric toilets.  Aft in the MSR is a full height dogged door backed with the teak which leads us down into:

Impressively sound proofed and laid out in a way to get access to all systems, the engine room offers unrivalled space in a vessel of this size. Wandering star has the upgraded 1066T2 Lugger main engine, the Yanmar 3YM wing engine and the Northern light 10Kw Genset. She has twin Racor filter for the main engine, the reverse oil change to main and genset added to the already very sophisticated, yet simple engine and fuel management on board.  Come up out of the engine room back through the MSR and up the stairs to the pilothouse, you can exit out onto the Portuguese bridge, again a main feature in the nordhavn range. Here you can walk safely around the boat and up the starboard side onto the large:

Here is where the Avon dingy with her 15hp 4 stroke Yamaha is located. She can be launched very easily using the Steelhead S1000R crane. The crane is a wonderful option to have included on the boat.  The dingy is located on removable stainless steel removable chocks. Once this dingy is launch these chocks can be lifted and this whole area over a great entertaining deck space. Take the teak treaded steps up from the boat deck and onto the:

The Flybridge

Two comfortable Todd helm chairs stand in front of the wheel with engine controls, thruster controls and a wonderful vantage point for close quarter maneuvering. Full set of navigation aids (listed) are available here for when the weather is good and the GRP stack add to the looks and ease of having antennas fitted.
