Nordhavn 2013 Calendar Cover Girl Eden Now Available!
Eden is a flybridge Nordhavn 47 featuring the popular two-stateroom layout, fiberglass stack exhaust, Steelhead dinghy crane, and all-Lugger powerplants. Her extensive inventory includes ABT active fin stabilizers, 12 kW Northern Lights generator, Sidepower bow and stern thrusters, and Cruisair air conditioning. Before the current owners crossed the Pacific to Australia in 2011, they did a major upgrade to Eden’s electronics package, installing a fabulous “glass bridge” with redundant radars, chart plotters, and autopilots. Eden was also wired for a complete Maretron vessel monitoring system that displays up to the minute data on everything from engine performance to tank levels to the state of the AC and DC electrical systems.
Eden has returned home to the San Francisco Bay and is looking for a new owner. This 47 is an exceptional proven passagemaker that has been beautifully maintained and fully outfitted with the spares and safety gear needed for extended cruising. She must be seen to be fully appreciated.
Yes, Eden made the cover of the 2013 Nordhavns Around the World calendar. Her owners had a dream to explore the magical and less traveled islands of the Pacific, and found tropical perfection in Bora Bora. Now it is someone else’s turn to enjoy a similar adventure – why not you?
The Nordhavn 47 design has already captured a prestigious place in the trawler world, garnering multiple accolades from major boating magazines for her durability, smooth ride, generous engine room, and wonderfully efficient layout optimized for a cruising couple or young family.
Eden is a beautifully maintained Nordhavn 47 that has been exceptionally outfitted and has an impeccable ocean-going pedigree. Acquired two years ago by her present owners with the express intention of crossing the Pacific Ocean from California to Australia, Eden demonstrated her seaworthiness and build quality day after day as her owners achieved their goal, keeping her crew safe and comfortable in everything from flat calm inshore waters to wild open-ocean seas that towered over her sturdy pilothouse. Put simply, the owners’ experience during more than 10,000 nm at sea allows for an unequivocal endorsement of this vessel as one of the finest trawlers ever produced, and Eden is an exceptionally well-equipped boat that is immediately ready for her new owners to embark on extended long range cruising. All of the popular factory options were selected at build time, and the current owners made a number of carefully-selected upgrades, including a state-of-the-art electronics package, to ensure that they could spend extended time at sea in comfort and safety. Each vessel system has been thoroughly exercised and “broken in” so she should be trouble free from the moment the new owners take delivery.
After successfully completing a yearlong cruise that included Mexico, French Polynesia, Tonga, Fiji, and Australia, Eden has returned to her original departure point in the San Francisco Bay, and thus represents a unique opportunity to buy a well-maintained and ready-to-cruise late model boat at a price nearly a half-million dollars below that of an equivalent new hull. To replace Eden as a new boat with comparable fit-out, including electronics, tenders, deck gear, and canvas, would take more than a year and run the buyers upward of US$1,400,000.

MAIN SALON AND GALLEY
Entering the salon your first impression will be one of luxury. The teak joinery is beautifully complemented by the dark granite countertops and teak and spruce sole. This single level room merges a spacious salon with an extremely functional galley making it easy to prepare, cook and serve meals and refreshments while enjoying the company of guests – there is plenty of room to stand or sit while conversing. The salon features a permanent teak dinette table to starboard with L-shaped settee. Under this settee, ready at hand and safe from the elements, is a top-rated self-righting 6-person Viking RescYou Pro life raft and an extensively outfitted floating ditch bag. The salon table features a gas strut that allows the settee to be used as an additional berth. To port are two reclining chairs with ottomans; these are perhaps the most comfortable spot on the boat to read, watch TV on the 32” high definition flat screen located forward of the settee, or simply nap away the afternoon. Every seat in the salon provides a great view of the surroundings through six large teak-framed Diamond Sea/Glaze windows – windows that are also durable, featuring ¼” (6mm) tempered glass and removable polycarbonate storm plates.
The salon transitions into an elegant galley that includes many brand name appliances. The careful thinking that informed the galley layout is exemplified by the double basin corner sink, which maximizes space for the rest of the galley while making it easy to rinse and dry dishes. To make cleanup quick and easy, the left-hand sink features an Insinkerator garbage disposal. The GE Profile propane range has four burners and a convection oven with electronic temperature control, and is properly trimmed with a stainless retainer to secure pots and pans while cooking underway. The black granite counter tops extend up along the forward bulkhead to provide a regal touch to the cooking area. There is excellent ventilation in the galley provided by an opening port light outboard, and a large GE microwave with exhaust blower is directly above the stove. The galley offers plenty of overhead and under-counter lockers for storing everything you need in proper seagoing fashion. The aft galley features a GE Monogram trash compactor with teak trim. The present owners have installed a Breville mini-oven capable of both toasting and small-batch baking, as well as a Cuisinart combination coffee and tea maker. Both appliances are secured against any movement in a seaway with industrial-grade Velcro fasteners. Forward and towards centerline is a house-sized Sub Zero refrigerator with a locking teak door. Underneath are two Sub Zero freezer drawers for cold storage; the bottom drawer includes an icemaker.
Next to the refrigerator are two deep pantry lockers with adjustable shelves. To starboard is a louvered door that conceals a full size GE washer and dryer.
At the forward end of the salon, a flight of five steps leads to the pilothouse, where all of the ships navigation and operational activities are coordinated.
The command center of the Nordhavn 47 is the elevated pilothouse, which affords a spectacular view of your surroundings. The windows are all commercial-strength and quality built by Diamond Sea/Glaze. Forward visibility is excellent through four large 12mm (1/2”) thick tempered glass panes. The forward dash cabinetry is teak, with instrument panels of non-reflective charcoal laminate.
The dash features four large 19” flat screens designed to maximize the helmsperson’s situational awareness. The far right display shows radar information from Eden’s state-of-the-art Furuno Navnet 3D open array, while the near right display presents high-resolution electronic charts with optional radar overlay.
