ACCOMMODATIONS & LAYOUT: MAIN SALOON AND GALLEY: Entering the saloon your first view will be one of a very open and elegant interior. The teak joinery is beautiful and is well complimented by the granite countertops and teak and spruce sole. The saloon features an extra large built-in teak dinette table with a starburst wood inlay to port with an L-shaped settee (abundant storage beneath). To starboard is a TV cabinet with a large flat screen TV on a powered lift, and two comfortable chairs. The settees are upholstered with Ultra Leather which is as comfortable as leather and yet is very practical and easier to look after. Also included are two factory custom bar stools done in teak wood. The saloon and the entire ship, including the flat-screen TVs in the salon and master suite, are wired with a state-of-the-art Bose sound system. The Saloon, pilot house master stateroom and guest stateroom feature satellite TV converters. This single level “living room” is divided from an extremely functional galley making it easy to prepare, cook and serve meals and refreshments while enjoying the company of guests. The saloon transitions down a couple steps into offshore functional galley that includes many brand name appliances. One noticeable feature is the double basin sink which maximizes space for the rest of the galley counter top. The faucet is a pull out type for rinsing dishes, made by Grohe. The commercial grade GE propane range top with GE electric oven is truly an impressive appliance and it is properly trimmed with a stainless fiddle rail to secure pots and pans while cooking underway. The granite counter tops extend up along the forward area. There is excellent ventilation in the galley provided by an opening port light outboard. A large stainless steel convection microwave with exhaust blower is provided for those quick meals when making passages. The optional spice rack is conveniently tucked away outboard. There are plenty of overhead and under counter lockers for storing everything you need in a proper seagoing galley. Also included are a GE trash compactor and GE dishwasher. Forward and towards centerline is a full sized Sub Zero refrigerator and underneath are two Sub Zero freezer drawers for cold storage and the bottom drawer includes an icemaker. Lower level crew cabin: From the galley one goes down stairs, in this area you have separate Bosch clothes washer and a top loading 7.2 cubic foot GE freezer. This whole area has been beautifully upgraded to a crew cabin with varnished teak veneer paneling and a single athwartship berth. This utility area serves as the transition aft into the engine room, with full standing room. PILOTHOUSE: The nerve center of the Nordhavn 55 is the pilothouse where you have an unimpeded view of your surroundings – or of your nav systems, live video shots from around the ship, or of your satellite TV or DVDs on any one of three large Furuno console screens. The windows are all commercial strength. Forward visibility is excellent through four large thick tempered glass panes. The forward dash cabinetry is teak and includes dark Formica instrument panels. The overhead is finished in white Majilite with Cantalupi lights. The floor is Lonseal vinyl with raised “coin” sized nonskid pattern covered with carpeting. Secured in the center of the control area is a beautiful Stidd helm chair. The pilothouse is air conditioned with reverse cycle heating for optimum climate control. Below the counter of the helm dash and just forward of the vertically mounted custom teak steering wheel, the wing engine and generator control panels are positioned so that they can be easily monitored while remaining out of the way |
