The Norstar 360 Pilothouse is a handsome, powerful yacht, designed by Gary Nordtvedt and built in Bellingham, Washington by Norstar Yachts to the highest standards and exacting detail. She is a highly-engineered Northwest and Alaska pilothouse cruiser and a great fishing platform, with many unique features. A boater's boat she cruises comfortably at speeds from 8 to 25 knots, with a top speed approaching 30. Her hull and machinery provide a confident, dry and safe ride in all conditions and especially when the wind and seas kick up. This yacht is easily capable of cruising to Alaska and beyond. MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT: Twin Cummins QSB5.9 diesels, rated at 380 mhp are standard with other propulsion packages available, including a single diesel engine option. Hydraulic-assisted steering with electronic controls featuring auto-syncronization and slow-speed trolling are standard. The standard boat comes with a 5kW diesel generator, a large capacity inverter/battery maintenance system and heating systems for year around cruising comfort. HVAC systems are offered as an option for boats destined for warmer climates. ACCOMMODATION: The interior arrangement is flexible with each boat custom-built to accommodate the owners preferences, desires and requirements. The Norstar 360 Pilothouse can be built with the galley-up or with the galley in the forward cabin; and as a single stateroom or two stateroom layout. The main bulkhead dividing the pilothouse and forward cabin can be located to provide maximum space forward or for added emphasis by enlarging the pilothouse. No two Norstar 360s have been built exactly the alike. Rarely found in yachts of this size, even the surfaces of bulkheads, cabinets and countertops is flexible; whether the owner's preferences tend toward a warm traditional interior with lots of highly polished wood or a lighter, modern and dramatic look using selected laminates in conjunction with wood trim. Norstar will build your 360 Pilothouse yacht to your custom specifications. HULL AND RUNNING GEAR: The Norstar 360 has a modified-vee hull in keeping with the Nordtvedt-family tradition as a leader of quality yacht design. Following the footsteps established by Arthur Nordtvedt, who has many successful hulls designs to his credit during a brilliant and long boatbuilding career, son Gary Nordtvedt employes the same basic formulas in designing the efficient, soft riding, stable and dry running hulls for the Norstar power boat line. Gary's hulls tend to have a slightly modified aspect ratio at the waterline in order to carry the heavier loads expected of today's yachts. The Norstar's running gear features cast bronze v-struts specifically designed to support and protect her propellers and shafts, and rarely found except on much larger custom-built boats. Her shafts and 4-blade custom engineered and individually documented propellers are machined using the highest grade materials to provide a smooth vibration-free ride. The Norstar custom-designed underwater exhaust system; baffled air inlet ducting; resilient equipment mounts and the abundant use of effective engine room sound absorbing insulation; coupled with carefully built leak-free hatches help create an ambiance while cruising equal to a luxury automobile at highway speed. Features such sight-gauges on fuel tanks; Norstar's unique waste handling system; access to wiring and plumbing in hard to reach places; the use of every conceivable space for storage; and the pre-engineered system for access to and removal, overhaul, or replacement of major machinery are almost never considered by production boat builders, but which are included as standard with every Norstar 360. < |
