GENERAL:

Auxiliary Cruising Ketch, formerly named Kerynia, built in 1937 by James Miller & Sons Ltd. In Scotland, designed by A.M. Dickie of Tarbert, Scotland, LOA 75' (22.86m), LWL 58' (17.68m), beam 16' (4.88m), draft 9' (2.74m), plance teak hull on oak frames, oak stem, original teak laid decks, Survey report 1998 is available, no major works required, long overhanging counter hull, straight keel, gross registered tonnage 36.72 tons, net 24.97 tons, cast iron ballast bolted to oak timbers, 660 Imp gallons (3.000 litres) fuel capacity in six tanks, 660 Imp gallons (3.000 litres) water capacity in six steel tank (1987), mechanical chain steering, second steering position in pilothouse, emergency steering.

 

ACCOMODATION:

Varnished classical interior, teak, mahogany and Bois de Rose panelling, carpeted throughout, accommodation for a total of six persons, in three double beds, one master and one guest cabin, two c/showrooms, saloon with dining table seating eight, interior completely refitted in 1999, double bedded crew cabin and one bow bed with WC/showroom, two Cruisair 1600 BTU air conditioning units, hot water system, water pressure system, galley with fridge, deep freeze, 6- burner Butane cooker with large oven, crockery.

 

MACHINERY:

Caterpillar V8 3160 210 hp diesel engine, rebuilt in 1992, 4.109 engine hours prior to 1992, 1.980 engine hours at 30 July 2000, salt over fresh water cooling system, maximum speed 10 knots, cruising 8 knots, automatic fire

extinguishing system in engineroom, four bilge pumps, one held bilge pump, 110V/220/12/24v electric circuit, 12v battery bank, 24v battery bank, Entec 9 kva generator, rebuilt in 1998, 200 engine hours at 30 July 2000, shore power ,two battery chargers.

 

RIGGING:

Ketch rig, Spruce mast, Norseman fittings, stainless steel rigging, Gowen mainsail, mizzen, boomed staysail , Hood genoa No 1, Hood yankee and genoa No. 2, Hood storm jib, sail cover, reefing system.

 

NAVIGATION:

Sestral compass, Seafarer echosounder, Stowe log (1990), Jefferson VHF (1990), ICOM 200w SSB interfaced via

Modem Packratt 232 to provide Navtex, weatherfax and telex via Toshiba T1000 computer and Kodak printer (1990), Neco autopilot, cellular phone USA and Spain, VDO Map&Logic GPS (1998).

 

EQUIPMENT

Stereo, TV, wheel house/bridge/stern top sun awning, dining table seating eight persons on-deck, wind vane, 6v held searchlight, liferaft, Zodiac rigged with wheel steering (1990), eight lifejackets, six portable fire extinguishers, Simpson Lawrence hydraulic windlass, two 100 lbs. Anchors, 500' 5/8" galvanised chain, swimming ladder, sea railing, window ventilation, fenders, extensive spare parts, tools, charts and books, clock and barometer.

 

PARTICULARS:

James Millar & Sons of Edinburgh originally built MALIKI for an English Lord in 1937 to a design by A.M. Dickie of Tarbert in solid teak on oak frames. She was completely restored in 1982 when she was purchased by the present owner
