Manufacturer Info

For nearly 50 years this company has been building quality traditional heavy displacement motor sailors, and more recently pilot house yachts, from its yard near Turku in south-west Finland. The first model, a 33ft long-keel ketch with wooden superstructure, was launched in 1966. The design was updated with a raised aft deck in 1977 and a GRP superstructure the following year. Subsequent changes with the introduction of the 331 in 1997, include a more modern under water profile, with a shorter fin keel and skeg hung rudder, and a larger more powerful rig. The 33 was later joined by 38 and 44ft motor sailors, while in the early 1980s the yard commissioned renowned New York raceboat designers Sparkman and Stephens to create a 52ft model that would have better performance under sail, while continuing to embody Nauticat’s core values. The result was the first in the range of pilothouse yachts, which now spans seven models from the 321 to the 525. The current range allows for a degree of customisation in both layout and equipment, with in-house designers working closely with each client.
