Long overhangs and a pleasing shear line make Soltura unmistakably a classic S&S yawl. In fact her first owner was also the second owner of the famous S&S yawl Dorade, which he purchased from Olin and Rod in 1936. In 1960, he was in the market for a slightly smaller yawl with the same great sailing characteristics but built of fiberglass. He came to S&S for the design and with their help found Werf Gusto in Holland to build her. Constructed in the early days of fiberglass, the solid fiberglass hull was very conservatively engineered and the thick layup has ensured an extremely seaworthy boat to this day.
For sale by only the second family to own her, Soltura has been lovingly maintained over the years . Her European construction is evident in the detailed construction and woodwork both on deck and down below. If you are in the market for a classic boat without the maintenance of a wooden hull, she is well worth considering.
The interior has mahogany woodwork with a teak and holly sole for a very traditional look. Laid out in a conventional manner by Olin and Rod Stephens, it is ideal for both offshore sailing and coastal cruising.
There is a V berth in the forward cabin with drawers underneath as well as a vanity and hanging locker. aft, to port is a head. This area can be closed off by a door to make a private, en-suite stateroom.
The main salon has pilot berths to port and starboard with lower er settees in front that putt out to form two more berths. On the center-line is a gimballed mahogany table. The full galley is aft to port with the chart table opposite. The companionway is on the center-line with the engine underneath.
The aft cabin has port and starboard berths with drawers and a vanity in between and a hanging locker. The aft head is on the starboard side and there is a door on the port side to close off this area into a second private cabin with en-suite head.
