Description/Condition

No Blisters,

Superb Condition

" Strong running convertible combines accommodations with large fishing cockpit and great offshore performance" as described by Power Boat Guide.

Riot-Us is in superb condition, built with non-blister, non-fire retardant resin. As you may know, many of these hulls were built for the US Navy as patrol boats in the Vietnam war, using fire retardant in the resin which ultimately over time reacted with the resin causing blisters. This is not one of those hulls. But it is built to the same rugged standards that Uniflites were known for before they got bought out by Chris-Craft in 1983.

This boat is built built in 1982, by the same people, using the same molds and the same materials who built the Chris-Craft 38 (by Uniflite) that sold in May 2012 for $75,000 Canadian.

Riot-Us has been owned by a marine professional for the past 13 years and he has kept her protected in a boat shed for that entire time. Previously the boat was kept in fresh water in Lake Michigan for the first half of her life, and stored in a heated warehouse in the wintertime.

Riot-Us boasts a 2 stateroom layout in rich teak with generous common areas. Forward is an offset double berth, a dual entry head and separate shower. The guest suite has a built in settee bunk.

This layout further offers seated views of surrounding vistas through large salon windows, a large, safe and comfortable galley and wet bar, a clean and well arranged engine room, and so much more. This boat is a must see. Do not pass this one over.

Call us to see for yourself what extraordinary value Riot-Us truly is.

Accommodation

The salon and galley space is unique to this boat and ordered from the factory with the galley aft allowing for more overhead stowage and a full sized fridge freezer. The layout also allows for a large custom built bar, strategically accessible either from the cockpit or the salon

The interiour is beautifully finished in teak which has been very well maintained to a high and rich lustre.

  • Gas engines and everything is set up for re-power to diesel if required. The fuel tanks are plugged for fuel return, the shafting is 1 3/4, over sized air supply vents and 6" exhausts
  • keep in mind though that the engines are running perfectly, and a mechanical including compression tests were done in October 2012 showing engines in good condition
  • The mechanic who did the inspection has declared that if these engines are looked after, are good to 3,500 hr.
  • the lower cost of gas engines contributes to low cost of this boat. Yes diesel will give better fuel economy, only over a very long time
  • Borg Warner 72C gear reduction 2.5 to 1
  • Spare props
  • Engine space well lit with florescent lighting

Fuel Burn
  • 9 kn. @1900 rpm burn about 7-8 gph
  • 15 kn. @ 3100 rpm burn about 15 gph
  • These metrics include total burn including the genset operation
  • A boat of this vintage, size and condition with diesels would cost roughly $30,000 to $40,000 more.

Owners comments on  Gas vs. Diesel:

Though diesel engines run more efficiently - saving about  30% on fuel, the servicing, oil changes and parts for diesel engines are more expensive.

A three week vacation to Desolation cost $2,600. Fuel for diesels would provide a saving of $780.

We generally use the boat most spring and summer weekends plus a holiday to Desolation with annual fuel costs of about $6,000. Diesel engines would have a fuel savings of 30% or $1,800.

It takes a lot of years to pay off that initial outlay for diesels

If you still want diesels, this boat can be converted. It was built to handle diesel engines with ample shaft, exhaust and air supply size. The fuel tanks were also plumbed for future return lines.
