Tartan

Tartan

Ohio builder Tartan Yachts has been producing high-quality bluewater sailboats for a half century. With naval architect Tim Jackett in the design seat, Tartan offers passagemaking cruisers from 34 to 53 feet and they also recently introduced their Fantail model for the discerning day sailor. These award-winning designs are known for resin infused hulls and decks, carbon fiber masts and booms, and the proprietary and confidence-building Cruise Control Rig (CCR). This system combines a pocket boom to hold the mainsail with a self-tacking jib and a 150% reacher on a roller furler. This versatile system helps Tartan deliver well-mannered performance in any wind conditions and is easily managed short-handed. Below, Tartan focuses on luxury accommodations with excellent joinery, ocean-going practicality and rich styling.

Hull & Deck

The vessel's topsides have been professionally painted with white Awlgrip in 2011. The original Tartan graphics/boot top and cove stripes were restored in navy blue. This refinishing was performed solely for cosmetic reasons, not due to any damage.

The bottom was taken down to epoxy barrier coat, fared and painted with blue ablative bottom paint.  The bottom is smooth and fast. Combined with the excellent sails this boat recently won the cruising canvas class of the OffSoundings race to Block Island.

Cosmetically the vessel looks nearly new inside & out and no funky odors at all.
