Trojan

Founded in 1949 by Jim McQueen and Harper hull, Trojan Yachts began in a small shop in Pennsylvania Dutch country. In just a few years, it was producing 20 wooden boats a week, and in 1954 the famous Trojan Sea breeze was debuted, generating an impressive 800 orders. The well-known 31-foot Sea Voyage followed, and by 1968, Trojan was the second largest producer of inboard wooden powerboats in the world. The company eventually made the transition to fiberglass, producing a full line of mid-sized cruisers. In addition to producing a number of historically popular models (the Trojan 32 sedan among them), Trojan contributed its share of innovations. In 1981, for instance, it introduced the International Series of Mediterranean-style cruisers that represented the wave of the future as these low-slung boats with curvy lines made the squared edges of the competition look obsolete. Trojan Yachts ceased production in 1992. The company’s assets were purchased by Miramar Marine, later to be known as Genmar Holdings Inc. of Wisconsin.
