Description/Condition

Owner Comments:

She was bought in 2006 by my wife and I.  It was our second boat.  Before we bought her we did a lot of research on West Sails.  We found out that it was exactly what we wanted, a safe over built boat with a lot of spacious room and a great resale value.  West Sails are built to go anywhere in the world, and get you there safe. We looked at a lot of different Westsails  at Yachtworld.com and West Sail Owners Association and never saw one that had a layout down below as unique and spacious as this one.   The first year and half we spent time in the dry dock doing upgrades.    We gave it a new bottom job and did the sides with awlgrip.  Replaced some of the teak toe rails, took down the rudder gave some touch ups and rehung it.   Put in a new skipper head, manual.  We put a new 2007 Yanmar 4JH4AE  54 hsp, along with new shaft prop,  and dripless stuffing box.  The horse power is overkill for the size of the boat...but it sure has been nice a few times too. The engine is light at 500 lbs and economical. It burns about 1/2 gallon an hour at 16rpm but if drops to a 1/4 gallon an hour at 14 rpms. Have the parts book and manual for it. Engine is wonderful, never had any problem and has been kept clean and timely maintenance with regular oil and filter changes.  Also, installed Raymarine C series Radar and Chart plotter,  bought  the San disk for Mid America Caribbean, and ST1000 Tiller Pilot.  Installed  an Air X wind turbine,  and Solar Panel.  Also, bought a new Standard Horizon VHF fixed and handheld with GPS. The handheld has built in GPS.  Also, got a spot messenger and a Iridium satellite phone.

We left the states in the beginning of 2009 and sailed to the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rica and the US Virgin Islands, we then sailed to, Panama.  We lived and worked there for two and half years.  We are back in the states now because we had our first child. She was born in Panama and we lived aboard with her for her first year of life.  We have our boat in a very safe and secure marina in Panama still. We did some additional upgrades at this time. We had new teak handrails made for the deck, new topside paint and non skid. Redid the teak decks on the fore deck.  Put in a cabin hatch, a low profile lewmar, on the port side on top of cabin. Installed a new solar fan in the hatch above the V-berth.  Had custom made teak shelves made for the head and slide for the companionway.  The boat is in clean and good condition.  She is being checked upon often and having some regular maintenance done and running of the engine.  We very much miss her and she has treated us well and kept us safe in some sketchy situations.  We hope to get back to the cruising lifestyle when our daughter gets older.  We hope to find the right owner who will love her and enjoy her as much as we did.
