Description/Condition

Designed by Arno Day and built by Frank Day, this traditional Downeaster was extensively upgraded by Newman and Gray in 2009 and reasonable offers are encouraged.




Construction

Maine white cedar carvel planking over steam bent Maine white oak frames. Oak backbone and floor timbers. Semi-displacement hull with partial keel and skeg rudder. Bronze screw fastening. Deck is mahogany laid and caulked. The 8’ x 10’ self-bailing cockpit is painted mahogany. Trunk cabins have painted mahogany sides and the cabin roof is mahogany. Deck trim is teak. Hydraulic ram steering controls with a single cylinder ram at rudder. DAY BY DAY has a gray hull, black boottop and a black bottom. She has two operable windows. According to a recent survey, she is in above average condition.



Engine

300 hp Marine Power 4-cycle, V-8, 5.7L gas engine installed in 2006. 82 hours on the engine as of April 2013. Morse engine controls. Propeller has bronze 1 1/4" shaft. Cruising speed approximately 15 knots, maximum 20 knots. The engine is reportedly in excellent condition.



Tankage

80 gallon fuel tank and 20 gallon water tank.



Electrical

12V lighting system, starting system run by two 12V batteries. Engine alternator. Electrical panel with circuit breakers and master switch.



Accommodations

Sleeping accommodations for two in a spacious cabin with v-berths and storage lockers.  Enclosed chemical head forward.  Varnished interior finish.



Ground Tackle

12 lb. Bruce anchor with 30’ chain.



Equipment

Bilge blower and 2 Rule bilge pumps, fire extinguisher, gas fume detector and boarding ladder.



Electronics and Navigation

VHF radio, magnetic compass at helm station, Furuno Model 1623 radar, and Standard Horizon, GPS.
