Yamaha's FX SHO Series personal watercraft has been named 2008 "Watercraft of the Year" by WaterCraft World magazine. This coveted award recognizes the personal watercraft that best demonstrates excellence in innovation, market appeal, and long-term impact on the industry.

This marks the eighth time that a Yamaha WaveRunner has been named "Watercraft of the Year" in the last 16 years.

According to Watercraft World editors, "Yamaha nailed it with the new overachieving SHO. It's what Yamaha has done beyond performance prerequisites that made the boat stand out for Dream Demo evaluators."

Watercraft World editors cited the long list of industry-first innovations and exclusive features that made the SHO a clear choice for its top honor. Most notable for the editors and guest evaluators were features that included:

NanoXcelTM hulls, decks and liners). Nano-engineered hulls, decks and liners are 25% lighter and significantly stronger.

High Performance Engine). The largest displacement motor ever in a personal watercraft — the all-new 1.8 liter supercharged and intercooled engine delivers class leading performance.

Cruise Assist. Allows the operator to set and maintain a desired speed

No Wake Mode(trademarked). Sets the engine at optimal no-wake zone speed

"This is a landmark award for us that really pays tribute to our achievements in innovation and how they improve the experience for our customers," said Mark Speaks, president of Yamaha WaterCraft. "Winning eight of 16 Watercraft of the Year awards speaks volumes about our commitment to Yamaha customers whose expectations we aim to exceed by developing products that push the envelope in terms of what they thought was possible."
