I’m really intrigued by pocket fishing/cruiser hybrid powerboats as an alternative to a sailboat. Why? Because you get all the benefits of a cool looking and functional boat with the much better fuel economy of a power cat. With rising gas prices, that has got to be a good thing.
There are lots of design challenges to combining the capabilities needed for fishing and cruising in a stable catamaran hull. I can imagine the design team spending many hours scratching their heads at where to fit everything, and the layout of this boat is really innovative. With the 10 foot beam, it has a nice large pilothouse and windshield, in front of center steering that leaves plenty of room for lounging. For a weekend getaway with the kids, there is room enough below with two quarter berths and a double V berth.
It does not have the ruggedness of a Whaler or Cutwater, but it just seems to work. I just wish there were a few more on the market. And wouldn’t it be awesome if they could get this cat foiling!
