At least once once a year the mighty Atlantic drums up such powerful surf that Nazaré, Portugal becomes a big wave mecca for tow-in surfers from around the world.

And last week Brazilian big wave surfer Carlos Burle set a new world record on a monster wave that clocked in at over 100'.

After about 20 seconds he was knocked down by a 50' tall mountain of white wash.  We're just happy he's still in one piece.
