The first Volvo Ocean 65 has left the factory and hit the water. Meet hull #1 and her all-female crew. Team SCA.

The Volvo Ocean Race begins in less than one year, on October 4th, 2014. The international cast of women racing for this Swedish entry -the first confirmed team of the 2014-15 edition- are hard at work training under the guidance of Sam Davies, the British Vendee Globe starlet who was forced to abandon her non-stop circumnavigation after losing her rig in the first week of the race.

But less than one year later Davies has been given a second shot to conquer the world, this time onboard the first all-female VOR team since EF Language raced in the 1997-98 edition of the Whitbread.  It's about time.

And if you think your office is challenging, try to imagine circumnavigating the world -just shy of 40,000 nautical miles- at 40 miles per hour in a carbon fiber sauna with 11 of the world's most talented female athletes.  It'll be the best show this race has offered in more than a decade.
