Navico’s new Simrad NSS Sport series chartplotter/multifunction displays are now available, and these units have a touch-screen interface. Don’t worry – the folks at Simrad Yachting know that touch screens can get a bit iffy when the water’s rough and your boat is rocking and rolling, so the units in the NSS Sport series have keypads and rotary knobs to back up the touch screen interface.

Simrad’s touch-screen NSS Sport displays also carry rotary knobs and buttons.

There are three offerings in the line-up, including the NSS7 (6.4” VGA LCD screen, $1,895), the NSS8 (8” SVGA screen, $2,845) and the NSS12 (12” XGA screen, $3,995). All are waterproofed to IPX7 standards, come with Insight chartography pre-loaded (and can be expanded via Navionics microSD cards), and can run on either 12 or 24 volts. As multifunction displays, they offer plug-and-play ease of use with Broadband radar, Sirius Satellite weather and radio, StructureScan side-imaging, and SonicHub entertainment servers. If you’re ready to let your fingers do the walking—and the navigating—check them out at the Simrad website.
