It may be high summer, but I'm already starting to think about winter escapes to the tropics. And I just spotted one boat that (while well outside my price range) would be really, really, cool: the brand-new flybridge ketch, Mondango III.

Mondango III

Mondango III is now available for charter.

The previous Mondango made Rupert Holmes' list of 10 Sexiest Sailing Yachts, and now her replacement (which I actually think is even sexier) is available for charter. According to Kim Kavin in a recent post on YachtWorldCharters, "For the winter 2015-16 charter season, Mondango III will be throughout the Caribbean, Central and South America, and the Sea of Cortez. Some of these destinations are places where few charter yachts are ever available, and where it is virtually unheard of to be able to book a week aboard one of the nicest, newest sailing yachts on the planet." Then I read on... and I might have to save up my pennies for a few more years. "The lowest introductory weekly base rate for Mondango III is just over a quarter of a million dollars and during prime charter dates, that rate will increase." Even divided up among 10 charter guests, that's a bit beyond my budget.

But it still sounds really, really cool.
