charter yacht Mystique salon

Today is October 1. In years past, by this date, all the best charter yachts had long been snapped up for Christmas and New Year's charters. But because of the continuing recession--and even despite some charter brokers reporting a recent uptick in inquiries--a lot of well-known charter yachts remain available for holiday bookings.

Management company Northrop & Johnson alone tells me that eight of the motoryachts in its fleet are still open for holiday bookings. The biggest is the 165-foot Oceanfast Mystique, whose main saloon is shown in the photograph above. Her calendar is open from December 19-26, when she will be based in St. Maarten. The weekly base rate being requested is $120,000 for 10 guests, down from $140,000 per week in previous seasons.

Also still available for the holidays in the Caribbean is the 115-foot Trinity motoryacht Watercolours. Her owner is seeking a 10-day minimum charter at a weekly base rate of $45,000 for eight guests.

In Florida and the Bahamas, Northrop & Johnson has four motoryachts still available for the holidays: the 153-foot NAYS Argyll, the 120-foot Broward Sovereign,  the 116-foot Intermarine Kipany, and the 100-foot Burger AR-DE. Weekly base rates range from $30,000 to $150,000 for six to 12 guests.

On Mexico's West Coast, Northrop & Johnson has holiday availability aboard the 122-foot Flagship Shogun, which is seeking a 10-night minimum charter at a weekly base rate of $69,000 for eight guests.

Farther north, in the Pacific Northwest, the company is advertising the 143-foot expedition motoryacht Devotion at a weekly base rate of $135,000 for 12 guests during the holidays.

Any reputable charter broker can help you book a Christmas or New Year's charter aboard any of these motoryachts.
