Yamaha FX Cruiser HO Named Consumer Reports Best Buy

Yamaha Watercraft Group is revealing that both the Yamaha FX HO and FX Cruiser HO WaveRunners have been recognized as “Best Buys” by Consumers Digest in the magazine’s June 2010 issue.

Consumers Digest bestows its Best Buy designation on products that editors determine offer exceptional value in today’s highly competitive marketplace.

According to Yamaha, the magazine will reveal that Consumers Digest noted several things common to both boats, including the NanoXcel hull construction, acceleration, and quick-shift trim system.

“It’s the combination of innovative features, exciting performance, appealing design, good fuel economy and affordable price that make the HO series such an exceptional value,” summed up Scott Watkins, product manager for Yamaha’s WaterCraft Group. “The hull and deck on these models is built using the industry’s only nanotechnology materials, and a state of the art high compression closed molding process making each part ultra lightweight with precision fit and finish. In addition, the HO series offers the largest displacement engine in the industry which delivers top performance while also providing class leading fuel efficiency. Other industry first features like, No Wake mode and Cruise Assist, make the HO series ideal for long distance touring and better for holding a constant speed while towing.”

While I had nothing to do with this year’s article, I did write the last Consumers Digest PWC comparison several years ago, so I’m familiar with the level of research they require. Still, I’m curious to see the entire article to see how editors broke down the market, and what other models won “Best Buy” designations. Currently I’ve got calls in to my contacts at CD to see if they’ll spill the beans. Stay tuned…
