BRP has revealed four new Evinrude E-TEC DFI two-stroke outboard motors, including three models designed specifically for use on pontoon boats. The fourth new motor is the Evinrude E-TEC 90 H.O., an addition to the company’s High Output series. Finally, the new motors showcase new graphics BRP says will eventually be featured on all Evinrude models.
Evinrude E-TEC Pontoon Series
The Evinrude E-TEC Pontoon Series outboards are available in 90 (three cylinder), 115 (V4) and 150 (V6) horsepower ratings. Pontoon-specific features vary by the engine model. The 90 and 150 models have new motor mounts that reduce vibration by 40 percent, while the 90 and 115 have a new high-thrust gear ratio. Finally, the 90 can be shipped with a larger, remote oil reservoir (the standard 90 has the reservoir located under the cowl) that BRP says extends time between fill-ups to 100 hours and makes it easier to check and refill the reservoir on a pontoon. The larger reservoir will be offered as an accessory for the 115 and 150 Pontoon Series motors. Evinrude E-TEC Pontoon Series engines will reach dealers and boat builders in the fall.
Evinrude E-TEC 90 H.O.
Like other Evinrude H.O. models, the new 90 takes advantage of the plus-to-minus 10 percent allowance manufacturers are permitted in horsepower rating, and will produce about 99 hp. To get there, BRP has actually “detuned” the 1726cc V4 powerhead used for its 115 and 130 models. The standard Evinrude 90 is a 1295cc triple-cylinder engine that weighs 55 pounds less than the 115. Intended for freshwater fishing, bay and flats and pontoon applications, BRP says Evinrude E-TEC 90 H.O. provides more torque for quicker acceleration and higher top speed, and more towing power. The idea is to maximize performance on boats with a 90-horsepower rating. The Evinrude E-TEC 90 H.O. will reach dealers and boat builders later this year.
All New Graphics and More Graphite Models
The new motors display updated graphics that will be phased into production throughout July. Evinrude will also expand the availability of its Graphite color offering to nine select models in the 15, 150, 200, 225, 250 and 300 sizes. Orders for the new Graphite color are now being taken and will be available to consumers by early fall.
