Based on the amazing success of the Xquisite X5, the joint venture between Xquisite Yachts and Cape Town based Phoenix Marine announces the arrival of their new model, the X5 PLUS. ‘We’ve have been working on the X5 PLUS design for quite some time, and the first two hulls are already in production. When we started to work on this project our main goal was to improve the sailing performance as well as to incorporate every design feature and new idea based on the feedback from all our existing X5 owners.’ The use of modern materials and build techniques, such as vacuum infusion and composite bulkheads allowed for a significantly lighter build of the X5 PLUS. The 16 tons light displacement, and the much more powerful sail plan guarantees fast and comfortable passages. The new bow design offers modern looks, while the overall length of the new model is 53’ with the additional bow sprit which is part of the very powerful sail plan of the new X5 PLUS. All the lines are led to the protected helm station and all three headsails are installed on electric furlers, allowing to sail the boat completely single handed in any wind angle or sail plan. Many other improvements are based on the experience building the X5 over the past 6 years, as well as on the feedback received from all the Xquisite owners after they sailed their X5 thousands of miles: Besides the great sailing performance, probably the other most important improvement is regarding the electrical system. The new generation 22kWh Li-ion batteries and new high-tech solar panels from Germany are standard now with a total of 2,3 KW high efficiency solar array, which work much better in low light conditions as well. The new panels are built with tempered ‘walk-on glass’ making easy to work on the coach roof, and the new 24V electrical system includes high output alternators, battery chargers and 6kW inverter. This very powerful electrical system allows for fully electric cooking with induction cooktops and electric oven in the galley, and a new electric grill setup incorporated into the wet bar in the cockpit. The new air conditioners using inverter technology are more silent and more efficient and could be run overnight without the generator, while the large opening portholes on the front salon windows, as well as the much larger forward facing deck hatches above the beds in each cabin offer great natural ventilation throughout the entire vessel. There are more handholds throughout the boat, and the new electric TV lift in the salon is pivoting for better viewing angles. Waterproof wireless phone charging at the helm and nav station eliminates the need of charging cables. The overhead rain shower in the cockpit is complimented by a pull-out shower, and the shore water connection on the transom helps to avoid contamination of the water tanks with marina water while at the dock. New and much improved multizone Fusion Apollo sound system with more speakers and subwoofer offers great sound quality. The cabinetry got new hardware with soft closing drawers and hinges as well as new latches, while the headroom in the salon was increased by 4 inches. Several different color choices are available both for the interior and exterior. The build time of a new X5 PLUS is almost a full year at 40,000 working hours, so the company only builds four boats each year customizing each yacht to suit the owner’s preference. Based on the success of the previous Xquisite X5, the first nine hulls of this new model are already sold, which means the next available hull would be delivered in 2023 Base price: $1,600,000.00

  3. Nautitech 40 Open

    Nautitech 40 Open

Nanny Cay Marina, Tortola, British Virgin Islands
    2020

Historically, the 3-cabin version has matched or even outperformed the 4-cabin version, so here is a chance to have an owner’s layout and an excellent revenue stream. The owner has the option of a split revenue/active management programme or a guaranteed income plan. Bookings are already being taken on this boat, assuring you of a successful turn-key program.  Contact Robin Hodges for more details. Award-Winning The 2020 Nautitech 40 Open Mark 1 was a game-changer, winning multiple awards. Sail Magazine 2016 Best Boat in Class, Cruising World best multihull cruiser for 2016, and now the Mark 2 Nautitech 40 open is a nominee for 2019 SAIL magazine ‘best boat’ award. Horizon Yacht Sales presents the new 3 cabin owners version 2020 Nautitech 40 Open by Nautitech Catamarans, with larger hull windows, distinctive grey Gelcoat detailing on the coachroof, the aft-facing galley and many upgrades including generator, air conditioning, leather upholstery, cockpit enclosure, sail upgrades, MCA category 4 compliance with all safety equipment, full charter inventory, ready to charter and cruise.   The 2020 Nautitech 40 Open construction is first class; different density foam cores are used, in combination with specific laminate specifications depending on the application and loading in different parts of the structure. This produces a very stiff, but impressively low displacement, so critical in a catamaran. Boat Handling When comparing a typical coach roof helm position versus the Nautitech Open 40 outboard helm position, the following should be considered: With twin helms on the hulls, (both with biminis on this boat) you have a lower centre of gravity, reducing pitching moment; you are driving the boat from a position where you have good visibility forward and aft, and you are able to see all four corners of the boat. You are always helming from the favoured side, and with the throttles at both helm positions having been included on this boat, you are always right next to the dock you are coming alongside. Changing command from one set of throttles to the other is as simple as pressing a button. Both helms are next to the cockpit, so the helmsperson is in touch with the rest of the crew. With class beating bridge deck clearance and an impressive fineness of hull ratio, it is no wonder the Nautitech 40 Open is so comfortable offshore. High aspect rudders set aft of the props, means even in a following sea there is no prop cavitation. The high aspect rudders give feedback more akin to a monohull than a cruising cat, and the relatively deep draft (for a cat) of 4ft 5”, enables this cat to outpoint the best of the rest. With completely sacrificial keels (she will still sail safely and well with no keels) and watertight bulkheads fore and aft, plus a Divinicell foam core, this is a very safe boat. Accommodation The 40 “Open” name relates to the Marc Lombard vision of a sailing/living space unlike any other. The saloon has an aft-facing galley, fridge, and a saloon table to seat 6. Two large coach roof hatches provide ventilation at anchor (fans and air conditioning are included in this boat’s specification). This yacht also benefits from a convertible teak cockpit table and a convertible saloon table. This is the 3 double cabin owners version/ 2 head and shower, where the port side of the yacht is the owner’s stateroom with en suite head and shower. Sailing the 40 Open Then you go sailing! A fathead main (which does not have to be clipped and unclipped from the track) is hoisted effortlessly with the electric winch ( included on this boat), and as you bear off, the Solent jib is unfurled and sets beautifully on its self-tacking track. In 18 knots of breeze, the 2020 Nautitech 40 Open will go upwind better than 40 degrees apparent, with 8 knots boat speed, unheard of for a cruising cat without daggerboards. This 40 Open comes with a bowsprit and 70 sq.m gennaker, which is as easily set as a furling genoa. This sail can be held to 60 apparent in light air, and to 120 apparent in medium air, enabling boat speeds in the mid-teens. Ask us about special-ordering a 130sq.m asymmetric Quantum spinnaker, and as the editors of Sail Magazine and Cruising World discovered, you can be sailing at 7.5 knots, in 7.5 knots of breeze, double-handed! This Nautitech 40 Open is an exceptionally well thought out catamaran, with a truly remarkable turn of speed, responsive handling to match, and her 3-cabin layout makes her very appealing to charter management and to the owner. This is a yacht to get truly excited about.

  7. Leopard 45

    Leopard 45

    Road Town, British Virgin Islands
    1999
    $289,995

Horizon Yacht Sales is pleased to present ‘Jet Stream’, a 1999 Leopard 45 currently located in the British Virgin Islands. Jet Stream started life in the Moorings fleet as a fully crewed yacht (never a bareboat) which allowed the maintenance to be kept at a high standard from the start. The current owner has owned Jet Stream since 2004 and it has been a successful owner-operated crewed yacht in the Caribbean from 2005 to the present. The Leopard 45 was designed by Simonis Voogd and built by Robertson & Caine and was available in two different models; the crewed version and the bareboat version. Jet Stream is the crewed version with many additional features onboard catering to a crewed yacht option. The crewed yacht version came with a higher standard of finishing’s, additional water and fuel capacity, and more refrigeration/storage areas, than the bareboat version. Over the years the current owner has added many improvements including solar power, upgraded anchors, batteries, water maker, and added longer swim platforms to the stern which not only resulted in slightly more speed and smoother ride but made it a much more useful platform for swimming and snorkeling from. Like all the original Leopards, Jet Stream has straight shaft drives, skeg-protected rudders, and sacrificial keels that can even be removed whilst in the water. These boats are pretty bulletproof. They were designed to sail well, be sailed by novices (though much better by good crew), and easily maintained to minimize charter down-time. Maintenance is a dream.... none of those afternoons spent trying to get at the back of things. Everything comes out easily, including tanks and engines....a real revelation and a dream to maintain. The Leopard 45 tacks easily, sails well under main alone, heaves to, sails wing on wing and is easily reefed, and is fast, and maneuverable. This layout is a 4 cabin/4 head ensuite configuration, with electric heads, very practical living areas and the galley offers ample countertop work areas and storage. Unlike the bareboat versions, there are 3 refrigeration systems instead of 2 and a 4 burner stove instead of 3. In the main salon, 6 large new windows were fitted allowing lots of natural lighting into the common areas. Moving on to the deck, the cockpit area offers nice alfresco dining space, plenty of seating around the table, newly upholstered seat cushions, and really brings the indoor living outdoors. In 2018 Jet Stream received a new suit of sails, all new standing and running rigging, a brand new dinghy and outboard, and a new Northern Lights Generator Jet Stream would be a great boat to continue its crewed yacht legacy or a fantastic liveaboard with all of the ocean-ready features available: Cruising spinnaker (2014 – very little use)                           Full batten mainsail, Dolye Sailmakers (2017) Furling jib, Dolye Sailmakers (2018) Flex-o-fold propellers Spectra 400 GPD Water maker Northern Lights 6KVA generator (2018) Air conditioning 11,100 BTU Sea Frost 12v fridge unit, very large fridge/freezer. Skip the factory production line, as this is a one time opportunity to purchase a lightly used, well-maintained catamaran that offers combined luxury living at performance cruising level.
