    Switch 51

    Hilton Head, South Carolina
    2004
    $489,000

The Switch 51 is a classic, high performance world voyager designed by VPLP. She was built with high tech materials for discriminating sailors at Sud Composites in Sete, France. Sud built 18 of these fine performance catamarans from 2001 to 2007, at which time the yard was taken over by Swiss Cat, another fine builder of boutique performance cats.  During the early years at Sud Composites, The Multihull Company were the North American distributors and we sold several of these fine cats to our customers, all of whom loved the boats and sailed great distances in them safely and swiftly. One of our customers raced his Switch 51 and took winning honors in every race he entered. But for all of that, the Switch is a very comfortable live-aboard voyager. Her two aft master cabins are very spacious and her forward port V-berth is double bed size. She was ahead of her time in design and build. KOKUA is a 2004 Switch 51 in excellent condition and very clean. And as you would expect she is a cruise kitted catamaran ready to sail anywhere in the world. Just take a look at her full specs and listing to see all of the gear and equipment she has on her. If you are the sort of person who cannot grasp the concept of sailing at 6 to 8 knots all day as you do on the garden variety charter cats, or dismayed to stick your boat up into the wind with fixed keels and see her drifting sideways, this dagger-boarded Switch just may be your ticket. She will easily average 9 to 11 knots over a 24 hour period in good winds, and she is capable of high teens in surfing and high wind conditions. Unlike comparable Outremer 50 to 55 of this vintage, she is all composite above the waterline (single skin vinlylester resin under the waterline), all foam core, all furniture foam core. Her wider flared hulls will carry far greater payloads without bogging down. I love the Switch 51 for any of our customers looking to go places in style - fast, gorgeous to look at, comfortable to live on. We are proud to be the central exclusive agents for such a fine performance catamaran. The current owners purchased this boat in Fort Lauderdale and have sailed her along the Eastern seaboard and throughout the Caribbean.  They have invested nearly $150,000 on her in the past 18 months. The reason for sale is family obligations that have arisen requiring health care assistance to the extended family. I know the owner very well - we shared watch together on a Switch 51 across the Atlantic in 2002. He's a superb person who has cared for his boat superbly.  Call us with questions. If you are a real sailor, want to knock off real miles, love to sail, and want a stout blue water performer, Kokua is a yacht worth serious consideration.

  5. Catana 65 Custom

    Catana 65 Custom

    Wilmington, North Carolina
    2011
    $1,300,000

SELIKA is one of the most attractive, large, bluewater cats on the market today. This is a totally custom built Catana 65 (hull #7 of 7 of the Catana 65s) using more than 60% components specifically built for this boat. It is the culmination of several years of time spent on the water perfecting this design. In fact, the owner of SELIKA built an earlier standard version of the Catana 65 and applied his experiences to this completely reworked, custom version. In doing so, he added no less than 1 million Euro worth of carbon options (carbon decks, carbon bimini, carbon hatches, carbon cockpit furniture...) to build a lighter and stiffer platform. Six tons lighter than the standard version Catana 65 makes for a faster sailing yacht and to the owner's delight, a very reliable one as well. He can push the boat in a stiff breeze without a worry.  SELIKA has a mast, rigging, sails and hardware worthy of a grand prix racer: Lorima carbon mast and boom, Incidences carbon/kevlar sails (new 2016), Navtec Kevlar rigging replaced in 2017, two carbon headsail furlers, all Harken electric winches. The headsails include self-tacking solent, genoa, gennaker, Parasailor and spinnaker. The nav and communications electronics are all Furuno. A total of three plotters: one at the chart table and one at each helm station as well as a full complement of autopilot and nav displays at all three locations. Sat Phone, Sat Broadband and Sat TV keep you in touch offshore.  The interior decor and materials were chosen with similar precision and good taste to create a very contemporary feel. Maple veneers, black corian, white overhead liners render a very relaxed, luminous atmosphere.  SELIKA features 3 guest cabins + crew cabin: a master cabin to starboard aft with a large ensuite, two guest cabins (port aft convertible to two singles) with ensuite and generous crew quarters. The cavernous forepeaks house washing machine and dive compressor on port and sails and dive equipment to starboard. The two engine rooms in the transoms are well insulated and very roomy, allowing easy access to engines, generator, watermaker, Whitlock steering components as well as electric and plumbing components.     SELIKA is powered by twin Volvo D3-150s (new port engine 2017 and new cylinders and head on stb side in 2016) that are shaft driven, making this a true, bluewater adventure yacht that will take you to the remotest locations on earth. The owner recently spent 6 weeks diving the Tuamotus in complete autonomy and comfort. Two Onan 7KVA generators power the onboard systems with a complementary solar array. The onboard systems include two chargers, two inverters, 50,000 BTU air con, washing machine, four electric heads, high output watermaker 240 l/h.  SELIKA was hauled in June 2020 for bottom paint (Coppercoat), several through-hulls were replaced, anodes replaced and props serviced (Prop Speed). We commissioned a bottom survey including photos and video of the bottom that is available to any serious prospects.   This beautiful cat has a full time crew keeping it all in top shape. One owner, never chartered and it's ready to go right now.  NOT FOR SALE TO US RESIDENTS IN US WATERS
